Newbie looking for advice...

I last had an electric RC car 20+ years ago, realised they have moved on by a zillion miles & am just getting back into it

After doing some research I have ordered the following & wondered if anyone can tell me if i have got the right kit ordered up for off road racing:

Schumacher cat SX3 pro carbon fibre
speed passion mmm 5.5 motor
speed passion gt5.0 ESC
Plazmapro 7.4v 5600mah lipo batterypack 40.7wh

Any pointers, views or warnings will be much appreciated

LiPo charging-for a charge rate of 1c, 5600mah=5.6a, 4200mah=4.2a. You will find now that a race car like the schumacher will have a multitude of setup options unheard of when you were racing. If you're just starting 5.5 will be way too fast, go down to an 8.5 or 10.5

I downloaded the build manual & blown away with all of the settings available, it looks like a science now! (A long way from the Holiday Buggy I had that run on 7.2v nicads with a hump in the middle of the battery pack!!)

With regards to the motor I worked on the assumption that if its too quick I will (try) to not give it full throttle

The 5.5t motor is still too much, the lowest you ever want to go to is a 6.5t and even that will be mighty quick. Your also in good company as a lot of people are coming back to RC from a 20+ year break myself included although its more like 25 years ago for me. The Lipo's you have chosen are spot on, excellent value for money.

My first off roader was a Tamiya Falcon, then changed to a Thundershot, then i found girls!!

Start with an 8.5 motor, plenty to get back to grips with the much more capable cars we have these days.
Can always go faster once you're back up to speed and the 8.5 will be a good motor for the 2wd car you will be wanting then.

Thanks for the info chaps! (I also discovered girls back then so the RC got put in the wardrobe, I also quickly discovered girls were alot more expensive to maintain than the RC car, but alot of fun!)

I'v taken the advice and cancelled the 5.5 motor, the only next option they stocked in the MMM series was the 10.5 so gone for that. I hope it wont be slow??? Does iit equate to half the speed of a 5.5, or 2 thirds the speed of an 8.5? (Sorry if thats a bimbo question!) Although being honest and being a noob a milkfloat will probably seem fast to me at first!
