Most of the things are quite obvious to me, but what is the reason for the rear hubs? Any theories?

good point
cant be to stop the clogging up issues as Durango have they're own alloy hubs.

may just be a test part, with an extra few degrees or something

Is the axle sitting closer to the hinge pin than the TD hubs?
I remember this being a performance mod for the XX year ago, hinge pin used to nearly pass between the rear hub bearings.

From memory, it stops the car swaying as much in quick direction changes on loose surfaces.... but I may be corrected on this.
