Default DB1 questions :)

I've bought a used DB1 and have a few questions to ask.

I've had to change the drive shafts as there were very warn, when rebuilding the cari noticed that the RHS rear arm was sitting lower than the LHS. I've measured the length of the shock bodies, shock shafts as it sits on the stand, the top plastic caps on the shocks and they all match each other,I'm baffled as to what can be the problem. Can some one help.

The rear front hinge pin holder (on the rear end if that's not clear ) was loose and moving, is this a common issue or just down to screws not being checked. Also when removing the rear end the anti squat shim came off as well but there were also 2 washers, now these look like they go between the chassis and the gear box, is that correct.

I would like to print of diagrams and part number listings for both standard cars used for the kit, i had a look on the net and couldnt find anything that help me,does anyone have a link for these please.

Cheers
Ross

Here some pictures of the shocks

The drive shafts are also equal in the out drives

And here's a vid of the holder moving

Measure shock bodies, should be 38mm

Also there are different rear wishbones avaliable, so take off and check the same.

I find the correct ones have a little M on the outside near where the hub mounts

I'll have a look at mine.

RE diagrams, I'll have a look through my mailbox, but if you email [email protected] I'm sure he'll send them over and provide assistance.

I did measure the bodies, there both around 38 mm, I has read no one of the threads that some one mentioned there are different sizes so I checked.

Just checked that the arms have an "M" by the hub and they have .

Cool would be good if you've got some diagrams,if not ill email Tony.

Cheers
Ross

Talking

The two spacers are probably from the top deck, they go between that and the rear gearbox casing.

Normally the height difference would be from the incorrect shock caps bring fitted, the two types do look very similar, either that or the o ring seal in the top of the shock being on the wrong side of the shock top. (It should be under the top so it's flush with the top of the shock)

The car looks familiar.. If its Neil's old one it was well looked after so may have just got a rogue part fitted.

The alloy wishbone holders do come loose, some weak patch lock will do the trick..

Oh and check the top mounting screws are straight and the shocks have an equal amount of thread showing.

Just checked the top deck, its sitting parallel with the battery's and straight
I did check the shock caps, the plastic top looks tone sitting in the Ali cap Ok.

I thought that may be the case with the holder, ill keep an eye on it.

Yep, was thinking the same thing and my iPad gone out of battery.

I think your RR hinge pins bock is bent (check inserts, should be F).
Bent one once on my FS2 so it can be done

I also got to be carefull when screwing this RR block as with no shim
between this one and the chassis the fit was tight and could be fit at an angle.

Everything else looks good from where I sit.

Could also be internal shock limiters if everything else mentioned checks out OK.

Thanks for your input guys.

I measured everything, shocks, height of chassis and hinge pins bracket for board, length of shocks, shock caps, top and bottom eyelets, shafts and they were all fine apart from the height of the top shock mounts, one was 4mm different to the other. So i stripped it all down and started again, i removed the washers that looked like they should of gone under the rear hinge pin holder and fixed it direct to the chassis and its all measured up fine, well with in 1/2mm, think i can live with that

Just need to sort part numbers for front and rear arms now

Again thanks for your help

Ross
