Default What tyres / wheels for XXX on grass?

Hi,

I race at South Lakes model car club, we do less than 10 grass meetings per year, things aren't that competitive and I've not bought any wheels or tyres for a few years.

I have been running Schumacher mini spikes on the rear and two row studs on the front, I'd be happy to replace with the same, although may go for mini spikes on the front.

Looking around the websites, there doesn't seem to be many places stocking the narrow front wheels? Do people still use the narrow wheels / tyres on 2WD buggies?

How do the Ballistic Buggy / GRP tyres compare?

What wheels are recommended? I used to buy the Losi spoked or dished wheels, seem hard to find though, especially in narrow format.

Hi ian

99% of people on here when racing on grass use schuamcher mini spikes yellow compound all round when dry. When wet we go to Ballistic Buggy mini spikes green compound when wet, using 4wd fronts as ballisitic buggy stopped making 2wd front tyres a long time ago. As for the wheel situation we use the wide wheels and stretch the narrow tyres over them. As for spoked and dish its all personal prefferance really.

Thanks Ashely, I'll go with the yellow mini spikes all round and try some wide rims.

On grass the most popular insert is the blue soft foam, commonly referred to as "Snee" inserts.

I have sets of white dish wheels with narrow fronts suitable for the XXX in stock.

I have been dealing with a company called MUNMOD RC on ebay, who are selling ballistic wheels front and rear, for only £1.49 a pair. The postage is only £1.14p for the first pair and after that the postage drops to 50p.

I received a good service and ordered 3 pairs of rears from them.
