Default RC promotion in Japan

We often complain in the UK that RC racing doesn't get enough exposure. RC racing has its place on TV thanks to Motors TV and HPI, but whenever it has been shown on more mainstream channels it has often had the piss ripped out of it... anyone remember 5th gear?

Anyway, in Japan this certainly doesn't seem the case... Hayato Matsuzaki (2007 2wd WC, Hot Bodies racer *plug*) is becoming a big star over there it seems, I was scouring youtube as you do looking for Japanese por...ahem I mean japanese RC racing videos, and stumbled across a range of Japanese news segments dedicated to Hayato. Below are a couple of links, I don't speak Japanese so I guess they could be taking the piss outta it too, but it doesn't seem it... they have him in the studio in the first clip which seems like some sort of daytime show hosted by the jap equivalent of phil and fearne, and in the 2nd they even film him at his school too... proper celeb style.

Take a look:

Thats what we need they are giving him the publicity that he deserves Neil dinnt get that when he won the worlds. The tracks in Japan are ace as well, running a car on slicks fantastic. The first vid looks like there version of Mel and Des Oconnor.

Good that they make it something that kids might want to do.. rather than making it look nerdy... like topgear/fithgear did.

RC is very popular in Japan. At the 2007 WC on finals day, there were loads of people just watching. So many that racers struggled to even see the racing, they were 2 to 3 deep all round the track. And they were right into it, ohhhh-ing and awwww-ing to alot of the racing.
