hi, im assuming that the horrific crunching sound im getting when braking is a result of me having my slipper set to tight and damaging my gears. (although gears dont seen too bad to naked eye)
before i pop a new set in i thought i would check that its not related to a different unseen problem? cheers |

have you checked the backlash on the teeth Dan, I know the teeth may look good, but there is chance, under braking, that the crownwheel is jumping teeth on the pinion.... worth a look if there is nowt else looking out of place?

Also check the screw that holds the smaller gear in place. This may have worked loose or something.
This happened to me once and I didn't spot it....until the screw chewed through the gears. ![]() other than that, just whats been mentioned previously and check the shims. ![]() |
