Hi all
I'm an old WORM member from the 80's when the track used to be at the old Weston football club site (now a Barratt Homes development) opposite Mc Donalds in town, the one before the move to the Westlands social club site. I was 12 then and now a little bit older and supposedly wiser. Iam still heavily into collecting r/c stuff, mostly vintage tamiya and kyosho, along with most of all the rerelease tamiya stuff from the last few years. I would be interested in coming along to the new WORM track to lend a hand at some point as i have been in commercial landscaping/ground work for 17 years and may be a help/hinderance. Anyway is it purely a coincidece that the new track broadly resembles the layout of the old track from the 80s or is there any (very) old members still at the club with some input into track design. If so has anyone got any old photos of the old club/circuit they can share as this late thirty something guy would love to show his son what daddy did back in the day. Cheers Shanksy. |

Hi there,
Good to hear from an original member! I'm a newbie to these parts and WORM, but Si Osbourne (MrSpeedy on here) is an original from back in the day...not sure if it'd be the same day as you, but he could well be! We're both ingrained in this project with a couple of other newbies (relatively speaking!). If the track bears any resemblance then it's purely accidental...though there is a pic on here somewhere of WORM from way back that someone scanned from an old RC magazine... As for helping out...sounds like you'd be well suited to the task...sadly much of the landscaping is now done and we're on to the finishing straight of laying the Astro top surface now...but if your free tomorrow, Saturday 21st, at any point between 10am and 6pm, you'd be VERY welcome along and lend a hand...big last push needs many hands!!! We'll also be there next Saturday too, 28th, with more of the same, feel free to join us and see what's going on! Look forward to seeing you trackside soon dude...get that old kit running again ![]()
