Default B4 Steering

Hi,

Wanting some help with how to improve/achieve better steering in my B4. Im new to 2wd, but do 4wd. Now I know its quite different in terms of reaction but I seem to be getting far to much understeer. Will adding weight etc help.

All info will be taken on board. (mainly racing outdoors on Grass/Astro).

Thanks
Paul

First things to check are mechanical - is the steering system moving freely, is the servo set up so that you are actually reaching full lock?

Some people dislike the built-in servo saver on the B4 and lock it up - can't say I have had a problem with the FT kit spring myself.

Next thing is tyres... try some different ones! On grass and astro it's almost always Schumacher's yellow compound, with minispikes (with varying amounts of spikes trimmed from the outer rows), cut staggers, or stagger ribs as the options.

More weight over the front will give more front end grip. Setting the slipper correctly will stop the front end coming off the ground at the wrong time. You can also try softer front springs or some geometry tweaks.

Driving style matters too. You can't go hot into a corner and scrub off the speed with the steering like you can with a 4wd. You need to get the car slowed down in a straight line, then steer it throught the corner, and get the power on in a straight line too. Needs a lot more finesse than a 4wd to go neatly round the track.

As far as i know , most 2wd cars have power off over steer and power on understeer. Well mine do anyways. They are deffo different to drive than a 4wd drive. 4wd drive cars are easy to drive as they just go where you point them but 2wd do need a finer driving style to keep them under control. You cant go jamming the throttle open and hanging on with 2wd, it just wont work. Throttle control is the key.

Too a search on the petite RC setup site for a stotfold/rhr/southport setup
Copy that and tweak it to your liking
You will more than likely just need to tweak the initial steering up or down depending on how much you like
Make sure as above says the car is built right and working right!
Always here for setup advise
Oh and as David above has mentioned you can't drive a b4 like a 4wd!
You can drive a c4 like one though!!!
