Default Questions about the track (New Here)

Hello there. Im new here and did some research that you are located closest to me. I have a SC 1/10 Traxxas Slash 4x4 and want to run it on the track. Do you guys have any pics of the track? Im guessing you can run 1/10 and are there any competitions for SC classes? Is Sunday the only day you can use the track for practices? I would like to do practice on Saturdays as well. I would like to join the club.

Well the track is 'there' all the time but its got no features (track markings) so if you jump the fence you can play around on the surface any day you like - we can't stop you! We only race on Sundays so thats the only time we actually set the track out, and we have some wooden jumps that only come out for race meetings too. In addition we alter the track layout each week so there isn't much to gain from huge amounts of practice on non-race days.

We do normally run trucks as a separate class as long as there are enough people - if not you race with everyone else. Heres a video of a truck heat to show you the track

Also, some other videos of meetings Here and Here to show some different track layouts.

As for joining - Just come down one Sunday and speak to Roger at race control (the cabin under the rostrum!). Your first race meeting with us is free, and you don't need to join - its basically to let you see if you want to come again, you might decide its not for you! You don't actually need to join until your third race, but we can sort the paperwork out when you are there - Club membership costs £5 but you also need BRCA membership which costs £14. That sorts you a racing license you'll need for other clubs too.

Start time is normally around 11:30 for booking in to start racing about 12 but it depends on people helping set the track up. Lots of helpers means an earlier start.

The track is pretty much all weather - really heavy rain creates a few standing puddles but regular drizzle has no effect. Consequently if people are there and willing to race we will have a meeting regardless of the weather. However at present there is little shelter around the track (we are looking into this) so its a good idea to have somewhere to hide when it does start raining - a tent or similar.
If not enough people turn up we won't race, and if the weather gets really bad we'll abandon the meeting but that happens a lot less than you'd think.
