Default Speed passion or gtb bit of a dilema

Hi guys fairly new to racing TC and i have only just got my head around brushed motors but it seams my club is going brushless and well i am going to sheep.

both i am possibly swaying toward the speed passion due to the hand held setup device it seams to make it all alot eaiser to comprahend.

but my question is would you go for the speed passion or the novak gtb if so why ? or experiacnces with either would help also

many thanks

In My Opinion!:
Speed Passion are a very recent entrant to RC car competition, and in that sense are an unknown and tested item. Novak have been around for years, and have successfully competed at the top level (Worlds etc etc) for a long time. I went for the GTB on previous Novak Experience (I had 2 cyclones with the great solder posts) which were uber reliable and a sinch to setup and use.

The drawback to the GTB is, it is very large and was a squeeze in my B4. However, so far it has been reliable, and if you buy a package, (most of them come with Sintered Rotors (check before buying) - (seem to be more reliable with better brakes and cooler running). The newest GTB's also come with Li-Po cutoff built in (again check before buying, as mine didn't).

Novak also make the L range of motors so maybe worth a look.

you can't look for a brushless setup and not have the LRP Sphere on the list.

you have to have them as an option at least.

That's like someone telling you they don't like Vauxhall cars and your reply being have you tried an Opel......

Although, I dont agree with B-Master with regard to Nosram/LRP support etc.....

It's odd to hear somebody say something negative about LRP and Nosram products and / or support.

All I have run since the very early 90s is LRP or Nosram (before that it was Nosram when it was really Nosram) and both sets of products have always been great and I've never had a problem with customer service on the very rare occassion I have had to contact them.

For me LRP / Nosram products are the top of my list. When the sintered rotor motors make it in to my part of the market (2nd hand only these days ....) I'll probably swap my Novak motors out to LRP / Nosram too.

Sorry for a late reply to the thread, but really I have a quick question on the topic if I may?

What is the general view on Speed Passion? I have read on the US websites some very promising things about them. However they really seem a bit of an unknown quantity. Based on the few good things I have heard I was going to get a Speed Passion system, and it's good to hear you haven't had a problem cyclone.

However I heard today of at least one person having theirs fail very quickly. I don't have money to throw away, and it seems no brushless system is perfect. However minus this one person with a problem I learnt about today, the Speed Passion seems as good as the rest. Is that a fair assumption?

Thanks in advance for any help.

i have had bad experienced with lrp esc's, replaced it with a novak and it is fine

go with mtroniks if you want good UK company / customer service.
on the other hand, they melt ... LOTS (that might just be the brushed ones though)
