Pionts are awarded 100 pionts for 1st place 99 for 22nd place etc etc. I think each club championship is made up of 8 rounds with your best 6 scoring rounds making your pionts for the championship. I hope this make sense but i'm sure Rob or Dave will let us know for defo .

How points are done for on the night racing is round by round qualifying in the offroad class. This is used at most off-road meetings and it means that if the track changes in any way during the qualifying session, all rounds count and not just when the track was fastest during the night. Essentially it rewards the more consistent driver and not just that person who does a one round wonder at some point during the race meeting. To understand how it works you need to imagine that each round of qualifying during the race night is a race meeting. And then think treat those race meetings as a round of a nightly championship with two to count from four.

If you are the fastest in round 1 then you get one point, second fastest will get two points and so on.

Round 2 of qualifying all the points are back to zero and you get 1 point for fastest as per in round one. 2 points for round 2 etc.

After all four rounds of qualifying your best two point scores on the night are added together, the person with the lowest score wins the night, the person with the second lowest score comes second for the night, etc. If there is a tie in points it will then be who has got the lowest round score, and if that is the same it will be then sorted out by who did the fastest time in their lowest round score.

It's a little bit confusing but it does work out better than the normal FTD, especially in off road where the ramps could be put out in slightly different positions between rounds which could make the track slower or quicker.

For the mini and touring car class the qualifying is sorted by straight FTD, so who is quickest on the night wins the night.

I can imagine this hasn't really made it any clearer, I think I explain things better in person so ask me on friday and I will go through it with you

How come you get 99 points for 22nd place? Now I'm really confused?

Who and in what class?

Ahh I see, right, Its your best two rounds to count, which give you your final score. So you got two seconds, which gave you four points. Lee got a 1st and a third which also gave him four points. Because lee has a higher round score, i,e his first over your second, it gives him the second place over yourself. The scoring system in case of a tie on points will look at who has the highest individual round score first. If that is the same then it will base it on who did the fastest time on their individual round score.

We run the BRCA off-road national scoring system as it is what is run at the nationals and also the same scoring system for the regional series. If what happened on friday happened at national it would have still been the same result.

Personally I always though the way it does that is wrong. It enables someone to pull a flyer in one round of qualifying but be behind for the other three rounds. which i personally think is a bit unfair. But hey that's the way it is worked out unfortunately.

Tie situation with two identical scores can be settled by FTD, if you had both got a 1 and a 3 for instance the person with the fastest time on their highest round score would take it. If that had happened you would have beaten him I think.

I really need to get dave to set the computer up to post the qualifying rounds from each night as well. Might make it easier to work out why you have come where then.

i do think its a bit odd that the person with the fastest time,as thats what you are aiming for, means less than what position you get in one round, that way,if 9 out of the 10 didnt start, you could get 1 point for doing 1 lap,but the other person doing 24 laps could end up with a 5 point
