I've recently gone from an old IPhone to a reasonably new Samsung Galaxy S running Android 2.3(.3) and been VERY happy with it.
I've been thinking for a while about getting an Ipad but seeing how much I like my phone I was thinking of getting an Android tablet (they are also much cheaper). Trouble is with Android there is so much choice! So realising this doesn't really compare spec with with an ipad but it seems broadly similar to my phone, is something like this any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-2-Andro...t_10916wt_1185 I pretty just would like it for web and email in the house without needing to get the laptop out, unlikely to be worked very hard. Could you get it to run netscreen at nationals? I won't be connecting it via 3G unless I can tether it with my phone as that has unlimited data.

Before you buy from that seller click on number 16 in his neg feedback. A few people who ordered that item never got it and others it was faulty.

The blackberry playbook is dead cheap still, and they have now released new software for it so you can run Android apps. Might be worth a look Dan.
Also for an Android tab you really want Android 3 or ICS. The 2.x isn't really suited to the bigger screens. Glad you are enjoying the phone ![]()

Very happy with my android tab which is an Asus Transformer and use it daily (in fact I'm typing this message with it). It wasn't much cheaper than an iPad but well worth it. I recently bought my mum a Hannspree Hannspad which laptops direct are doing for about £160.
The beauty of android is that its open source and you can get custom rooms for it, on my mums I managed to root it and put a custom cyanogenmod rom on there which opened up the android store and a few other niceties can try and dig out the link if you're interested. |

Don't think you can go online with a Blackberry Playbook outside of a wifi zone without a Blackberry phone, the bridge software they use is unique to Blackberry which is also one of the drawbacks of the Playbook. Also its only a 7 inch screen, we tried one as we both have Blackberrys. Then we just acted like sheep and bought an ipad2 3G.
If I hadn't been so locked in with itunes etc I would have got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and for what you suggest you will use it for I still would seriously look at that option unless you really must have the lastest OS ie, Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-loaded. My checklist for an Android pad is quite short: 10 inch screen with decent brightness. Android Honeycomb ie, v3.0 Decent storage capacity Or just be a sheep and wait to see what the iPad 3 looks like when it launches on the 7th March ![]() |

Thanks for the feedback, I must admit I hadn't looked at the sellers info but knowing resistive screens are bad is good to know. I don't really 'need' one, its a nice to have however Sarah has reminded me we have potentially a more pressing electronics purchases, new thread coming. That said any more comment please let me know.
