All the high-end brushed ESCs from a few years ago are good. Most of the brushless ESCs that will also run brushed are good too but they are a bit more of a fiddle to wire up and set up.
Personally speaking I run a Keyence Rapida Pro in my Mini. What I like about this ESC is that it has a built-in display for programming, and doesn't need a schottky or a capacitor which makes the installation neater. Lots of people run LRP Quantums - the QC3 has a LiPo cutoff built in and is still available new. Some of the old brushed ESCs are quite difficult to program, it was all a combination of button presses and flashing lights, and if you don't have the instructions you won't have a clue on how to get it running normally. The KO VFS-1 had a handheld programmer but if its settings have been changed with the programmer and you don't have one you'll also be stuck. Some of the cheaper ESCs are good too - but its hard to know how good until you actually buy one! I wouldn't buy anything by Mtroniks, and I wouldn't buy anything with an "automatic" setup either. |
