Default Hobbywing/Speed Passion ESC Question.

I've taken the plunge and got myself a 120a Hobbywing ESC, I didnt get the program card as I figured I could just take my laptop with me to the track or program it using the lights.

The question I have is, in case of emergency can the Hobbywing Xerun 120A be programmed using the Speedpassion GT 120A card as they are essentially the same ESC just rebadged...

Would save me the hastle of having to take my lappeh to the track and since the vast majority of the guys at YORCC run the SP120A I'd just be able to borrow one of theirs for a few mins...

TIA

AC

More recent versions of the SP and Hobbywing software are incompatible with each other.

I'm not sure of the exact history, but at some point in the last year the softwares were written so they would only work with one ESC or the other.

Simplest is to run the same ESC software as the ESC you have. I'm sure that nobody at the track will mind if you put the Hobbywing software on a CD for them to load onto their computer.

Same applies to the program box - you will need to have your own one with the Hobbywing software loaded onto it. You can't switch easily between the two.

Thanks for the reply Sos, It makes it easier for me, I have to either buy a program box (not that expensive at 15 quid) or remember to take my laptop with me when I go.

Gracias compadre.

You will need to buy the prog box anyway as it is the interface between the esc and pc.
You cannot connect the esc direct to the pc.
It is well worth the £15 for the convenience... It makes life at the track so easy.
I only use the pc to update the firmware from time to time.

Not sure about the compatability issue either as I have upgraded several peoples SP GT2.0 escs with my HobbyWing box including a couple to the superior HobbyWing V3_930MOD software
