Ok folks - I hope this is a reasonably straightforward question; Which types of wheels are compatible? i.e - Losi - Associated? Hot Bodies? Aero? Is there a 'standard' design nowadays (e.g. offset)?
Thanks oople buddies |

b44, bj4, xx4, xxx4, 501x, durga, s4, acb44 all use std losi style fitment aka hex front and pin rear.
HB use a hev front and a hex rear i think it might be the same as as the yoke hexs but dont quote me on that. And kyosho use some huge hevs like touring car hex's. A

not entirely true Ash,
the B44 (and possibly Yokomo) use a deeper front Hex than the 'losi' style used on the Losi and the BJ4 etc.. though there seems to be a 'standard' developing, they are not all 100% compatable yet. |

Kyosho and Hotbodies both use 12mm hexes. I think the wheels have a slightly different offset though.

Just to clear up the wheel fitment on the Kyosho cars....
All Kyosho rear wheels are on a 12mm hex with slightly less offset than the "standard" Losi / B4 style rear wheels. They can however be converted to run Losi / Proline wheels on the rear with UMW502 Proline axle conversion RB5 fronts also use a 12mm hex but the offset is not the same as Losi or B4 in terms of offset. There is a conversion that can be done (either B3 steering arms and B4 in-line axles or Acadamey GV2 B4 compatable front knuckles / axles) which can be made to work and allow the use of B4 fronts. To be fair I'm not keen on this but it does work. The ZX5 fronts are split into two ZX5 fronts are similar offset to the standard Kyosho rear and use the 12mm hex, I know of no alternative fitment. ZX5-SP uses a 12mm as standard but the offset is only about 0.1mm different from the Losi fitting front wheel. If you trim the front hexes down to 3/8" across flats then you can use Losi fitment front wheels with no other mods. I have never actually run my ZX5-SP on Kyosho fitment wheels as I modified the front hexs at build. All my Kyosho cars are running Proline fitment rear wheels. The reason for this is simply that I had a load of rear wheels I wanted to use and the Losi fitment fronts are easier to get trackside in case of emergency (ok lack of planning) Hope that clears things up for those interested. |
