Hello,
At my local club most people use 10.5 turn brushless motors in the 2WD buggys. My question is, Why dont we use 17.5 or 13.5 motors with a bit of timing to get the top speed back. I thought that the higher the turn the more torqe which would be good for buggys?? Many Thanks Chris. |

More torque at the same gear ratio, yes, but less rpm and less POWER. So when you gear up the slower motors you mostly lose that torque advantage.
Boosting the timing of a slower motor also decreases the torque. If you want to try boost with a milder motor, go for it, I think you have seen the pros and cons of it from TC racing, personally I am very much against the use of boost because it ruins the throttle feel. I ran a 13.5 on a normal mod profile at Chippenham last season and it was not far off the pace, a bit soft on the bottom end. Ran it at the WRCA at Caldicot too and was in the A. Switched to the 8.5 and it is really quick, wouldn't want any more power on that track. Dave |

Thanks Dave.
I will give the 17.5 a go on friday and see how it goes. after all i have only been running tha standard RTR brushless setup till know. But i know what you mean about the "lost feel" when you add boost. I think this is why i hated the mini with a 17.5 on boost. Thanks Chris. |

Right well i gave the 17.5 a go last night and found it to be great.
much better flight control than with the RTR system that comes with the B4.1 car. Will do some more testing but so far so good. ![]() |
