Default Vintage Procat Restoration

Hello all,

I'm starting this thread to document a vintage Procat Restoration.

Before I start thanks to Luke Kasza for his help, inspiration and his designed and manufactured parts by Fibre-lyte.

I'm still gathering all the bits for the rebuild, but as a start he's a pic of the rather sad 'donor' car. The suprise was that it had front and rear MMS diffs. :-)

Hi Robin, thanks for the mention... I'm looking forward to see how the restoration goes. I'm sure you'll find lots of help and ideas on Oople!

Look forward to see how you progress with it

Looking at your pic it looks like you've got some non-standard shocks on board, and did someone really drill a hole in the front wishbones?

My own Procat started as a basket case and it was great fun to restore.

Paul.

The eBay item (120847972333) doesn't quote a part number but from the research I've done I believe it is U770R? Let me know what you have.

Thanks
Darren

Cheers for the offer of the shock bodies Andy, I have a spare set from some ebay bits, I'm going to polish up, for photos. I'll probably race it with a spare set of V2 AE shocks I have.

Default Update

Sorry the progress on this thread has been a little slow. I started tonight as I had 80% of the parts and the new chassis is still being made.

6 hrs in and I haven't made great progress as I'm missing some parts to rebuild the diffs. Now waiting for the postman again.....

Hi, I'm guessing this is Kevin? I don't think it'll be ready for 2 weeks time for three reasons. I'm get 5 shells done at the same time, and the C4.1 shell is out of stock, should get that next week and there's no sign of my Topcat shell from Canada. Then Mike at www.number5designs.co.uk/ has to paint them, I imagine he has a que.

Hmm...can't get italics off, oh well. The 2nd reason is the new batch of the speedo I want are a month off, and thirdly, I have no chassis yet, Fibrelyte could be a while!

See pic below of why racing without these three, especially the chassis will be tough!!

Are you doing the 24hr race at York this weekend? I'm in a team with Graeme, Col, and Rob Marks, and a few other people I haven't met yet, should be fun!

Bits that I am missing:

Speedo, waiting for new batch.
2nd set of battery Posts, will get at York tomorrow.
Chassis, Shock mount, rear susp mount, top deck, and steering levers. With Fibrelyte.
Diff outdrives and spring washers, in the post.
New O-rings for shocks, in the post.
2nd set of Rudebits diff balls, in the post.
Spur gear and pivot balls for front suspension, email sent to RW awaiting reply.
Bodyshell, undertray and wing in the post, then needs sending to the painters.

Other than that, I just have to figure out how to mount the shocks, I may borrow some bits from other old Schumacher cars, and the same for the star pivots in the driveshafts.

I now wish I had asked Phil Booth and his wife and the Schumacher boys at Worksop if they had access to any parts!
