Default motor destroys esc

Hi guys, novak motor in my sons car today ended up destroying lrp esc for some reason it generated so much heat it actually melted part of the battery casing, everything was hot including battery, however the battery is still working, i connected a different esc and gave it another try again noticed small amount of smoke so unplugged quick, after just a few revs on the throttle the motor was really hot, what i did notice is that when i throttled up the led light on the pt went dim, put new motor on and all worked well, so obviously a motor problem.
Now i'm home took ends off the motor nothing very obvious to me all free moving just noticed what seemed to be a couple of small bits of solder dropped out?
Any idea's whats happened to the motor?
Thanks.

yeh mate, 10.5 t motor and lrp sxx tc esc so should have easily handled it.
Only other thing was one of the tabs on the motor looked like it had taken a hit so wondered if two had touched and shorted? but when i straightened it there was no change.

sounds like the outer wire has cracked inside the can then shorted out, making it over heat, the solder will be from the motor

no worries, best bet is to go on the home page of who makes the motor, they are easy to take appart(unless they are sealed)but they usually have small washers that you can miss, but then if its toast i dont supose that will matter......usually you just undo all the screws in the end of the can

There was a good video on here somewhere a long time ago but in the meantime stuff like this can be found on youtube, You can probably find your motor there.

I had the same thing happen to me with a Novak ballistic 10.5 motor,
It fried a LRP sphere and a SP gt esc.
Was running on track fine ,then went to start a heat did 2 laps and stopped (not overheating)
Tried to see what was wrong and fitted the LRP and with one rev the motor killed it.
Sent Sp to Schumacher and they could find nothing burnt but just would not work.(they gave me a new one fur %50 off)
Don`t know who to send the LRP to ?
The Motor went back to novak as it ran fine on the motor tester but i dont want to fry another esc so still waiting.
