Saddle pack chassis

What are handling differences/characteristics between the standard x6 squared chassis and the saddle lipo chassis ?

for me it's more easy to drive with saddle chassi and also weight distribution is much better. And I think it's harder to get roll

Saddle pack will make the car feel more balanced and less prone to roll. The new T shape configuration the team is running seems to take that another step forward too...

The Lipo's in T formation sounds interesting, whereabouts in the chassis are weights located when running the T formation (i have the rudebits under servo and behind servo weights)?

The new shorty lipos in a stock chassis are also an option

Paul runs shorty across the back with weight under it. Less roll and good weight distribution for him.

With T formation we are running almost zero weight in the chassis, however we are running a lot more nowadays up front (Brass bulkhead, with extra weights, under steering weight and brass front brace too...)

Very similiar, just some minor alterations required to the chassis really.

try ed shorty pack and saddle on the weekend at a very very high grip track...(clay)
down here at the 2012 Keilor Stock shootout...after day one of Q ..
I was sitting in 14th!!!!!!!!
day two with one Q to go i needed a top 3 finish to even get into the A.....
so i put back in the normal chassis with the battery across the car and low in behold it took me to 6 in the A..... come the end of the finals i finished 3RD overall .....
the shorty pack gave the car no side bite or balance through the moguls and the saddle jumped like SH%$!
dont mess with something that works i say!

it was just amazing how good the car worked with the normal chassis.

For dirt I go back to the lipo's across the back of the chassis for the traction, but over here in the UK it's a very different case and we need the weight further forwards.Saddle chassis is better settled in the turns and helps shift the weight forward a touch, the new T layout we are trying, as Darren says, take it another step forward and with that we are running less overall weight but brass bulkheads etc.E

Have you ran the new T-layout on astro yet or just carpet?

Since the car is lighter overall I guess it works great on flat carpet, but I'm wondering how it will get on with bumpy astro tracks.

I've only ran my T car at the Petit race which was flat (well no bumps anyway), however I also started using my 'new' lipos which were much heavier than old ones so for me, going to this setup has kept the same overall weight but natuarally moved the dias forward. I do now have a brass bulkhead though that I did not previously run but is the only added weight.

As of right now, the saddle chassis available from the factory is the best option because you don't need to change anything else like the battery strap. We've not yet quite worked out how the strap wil work perfectly on the T setup (well I've not anyway) but we'll get there soon enough.

I've run it at Stotfold and EPR like it. Both tracks were damp but it was fine, only weight I had in was the Rudebits steering weight for that.

When I say it's lighter if I set it for the dry, or indoors it comes in just under 1700g, which is way lighter than it was last year, knocking on to 1800g. So it still has the weight for stability but it's now just further forward.

The idea is for the wet/damp I can just take the brass bulkhead off and so far that has worked but until we get some dry outdoor days not fully sure but I see no reason for it not to work.

Cheers guys, I'm actually a fairly similar total weight to your new setup. In the dry I run a shorty lipo across the back, 1700g total weight and 65/35 split. Seems to perform well for me at this weight.

In the wet I just slap a heavy lipo across the back instead of the shorty, gives about 1780g total weight and more rearward bias. Has plenty of traction like this, although I think the extra weight and rearward bias makes it a bit trickier over the jumps. Weirdly it wants to nose-dive, so I think its getting a vertical pendulum thing going on due to all that weight at the back.
