Default Novak GTB + FM problems!

Hi!

It's been a while since I last visited oOple (shame on me). But to the subject. I have lots of problems with my Novak GTB with a FM radio. I can drive about 10-15 metres from myself without losin contact. But if I drive further away I lose contact and it starts playing bulldozer and can give full throttle for about 2 sec. before stopping. It's really annoying and I haven't been able to drive it so much due to the contact range (I have not enough money to a new radio either...). Are there any tips and tricks to do so I could increase the range or is a 2.4GHz system the way to go?

This only happen with a GTB? That would be weird.

It's not the 2.4ghz optimised GTB is it?

No, it's the regular version. And no wires are split. It's really weird because a friend of mine had the same problem with his GTB until he changed to 2.4GHz, then he had no problems with range anymore...

I had bad interference at very close range. Ended up changing the receiver in the end for a tired 'cased' KO 297 one. That cured it tho!

Try another receiver if unsure.

What radio gear are you using?

I used my GTB with KO 40mhz for the first half of last gear without issue and there are lots of people who do the same. I can't think of any obvious reason for this unless issues wirh radio gear. Have you tried the same radio gear with a different speedo recently?

Also check the big capacitor is on and connected securely, if not the receiver may actually lose power and hence lose signal strength. Also that it is not mounted to close to the receiver as that could cause a few glitches

i HAD a novak gtb, one of the early ones, and i had all sorts of interference issues with it, even when running a brand new KO receiver.

I tried all sorts to fix it, even down to re-soldering all of the wires on the esc/motor at their very minimal length and still the interference came.

After much searching i was none the wiser, so i sold the GTB.

i was later told that the GTB had known issues when used on 40mhz, and one way to solve the problem was to use a ferrite magnet around the power wires. Never tried it, so i can't comment on if the "fix" worked, but it may be worth you trying that?

I use a JR XS3 radio 40MHz. I have no issues with other ESC's. I also have two receiver which I've tried with no change in range. Maybe I just got an "bad-example" or something because it has been like that since the beginning I bought it.
