Default Schulze and LMT Anyone?

Hey guys!

Was wondering if anyone in this forum uses LMT motors with Schulze speedos? THey're great combos! Cos I've not seen a post for these two companies before here. :-) Been using these for ages and they're superb! Im not familiar with mainstream brands though...

Just wondering! hmm...

I own a a couple of Schulze/LMT combos.
Uforce 75, Uforce 50 and 58ce.
The Uforce series is programmable, which is great as I can set my lipo cut-off voltage and drag brake.
The 58ce is a simpler model where I can't set anything.... I think hehe

The only downside of these escs are their large footprints. My Tekin R1 Pro is about half the footprint of my Uforce.

The LMT Basic motors are fantastic. In my opinion, they are the most well made brushless motors I have ever had. Very smooth. Their compact size is handy for a 12th scale pan car too

What escs do you run? Any tuning and setup tips?

Hiya Hardrider!

Nice to know some people run Schulze and LMT. I have 2 BASIC 5300's and 1 BASIC 4200 brushless by LMT. I think they're the best brushless sensorless motors. I run schulze's u-force 75's for all three motors. No doubt the footprints are big but the performance far outweighs the effects you get from them and furthermore these 2 companies work closely hand in hand and they manufacture their stuff themselves from scratch and where possible by hand too.

Setup wise, I usually over gear my buggies usuing a bigger pinion than I have too, at least 2 tooth's above the highest. ** 4200 = more torque, 5300 = more speed! .... You will want to do this cos if you dont, you;re not utilizing the full capabilitiy of LMT's they're very revy and tourquey but only when you can supply them enough power. So when you over gear, the motor will want to draw more current from the batt hence the ESC will grant the request resulting in crazy power. fooling the ESC in other words. But if you gear it just nice then the motor will just be 'relaxing' and not fully utilized power wise. Problem with schulze and LMT is that they stand up to any beating you throw without cooling needed! haha! :-P

Schulze 85ce and Lehner Basic 5200

weird design of the 58ce with shrinkwrap over the heatsink, I had to
cut the heatsink free

Hi Matt!

Thanks for the tips. I run touring cars.
I really like the powerband of the 4200. Very driveable
The 5300 is a little too fast for me to handle

Gearing up increases amp draw from the pack. This is where the risk of overamping of the pack occurs? I have been told that this might cause damage to lipo packs. What's your take on this?

Hi Alan,

I have never experienced damage to my lipos by overamping them. I use only Trakpower lipo's for my B4, and T2'007 and T2R. No damage there yet. I've been with these 3 packs for a year and a half. I always balance charge these packs.

I use the Schulze Next Generation Charger for my charging/discharging/balancing/repairing purposes so it eliminates the use of a batt conditioner and other gadgets such as a discharger and what not. The charger is great and I would say that Shculze chargers are the future of batt charging tech. Apart from that, what I understand is that schulze esc's are smart enough to not over amp your lipos cos it can only draw so much power from the pack at a max peak power draw but at the same time studying the power requirements from the brushless power plant giving it the power that it needs when it needs it. A little complicated but the Schulze esc's protect my lipos time in time out. I use the top of the line future so as to not risk damaging my lipos.

I only overgear my Buggies but not my touring cars cos I believe that I believe that ratio and correct gearing for on-road is so very crucial. Otherwise you wont get optimum performance.

For off-road, I over gear for extra punch and torque for jumps and acceleration. Never failed me so far where batt packs are concerned. Mind you I have had these packs for a long time. Well I guess its how you manage your lipos and cells. ;-)

5300 BASIC LMT's are great for touring cars but not enough torque for off road though the power spectrum is wide. I use 5300's for my xrays and 4200's for my associated b4, b44 and 501x more than enough for off road often overtaking nitros with no effort at all coupled with lipos. Fly!!
