What's wrong with original plastic shocks?

Guy's what the problem with? The demping seems to be ok, so are the springs not good enough? Some say the above cap will come off? Is'nt there away to change that? All this, because lak of money, euro's in this case!

To be honest with you they are all right (Well most of the ones I have seen have been fine) but it literally just is the shock tops popping off at the site of jump that forces many people to change them. Sometimes the cap will pop off but I have seen a few break the threads off the body in a heavy impact.

Suffice to say the ultimate cure is to buy alloy bodies or alloys shocks. Personally I would say it is a neccesity if you are racing to have some form alloy shocks on the car. Nothing worse than shock failiure during the race not only for you but for everyone else to as you leave a load of oil all over the track.

I also found that the plastic shocks is quite allright.

I have only changed mine because i don't want to have a shock "pop" in the middle of a race.

My brother has "popped" a front-shock on both his Mad Monkey and his Macnum, so I didn't want to test my luck

Thanks. Ashame you can't fill a shock upside down, so you could glue the top

you could try cutting a small piece of plastic out of a plastic bag, taking the shock cap off, put the plastic sheet on top of the shock, and replace the cap. No need to glue, so might be worth a try

Solved the cap problem! I did this, let all oil out, cleaned everithing!
Cut a hole in the rubber topcap, drilled a small fillinghole on top of the cap, this for closing with a very small screw, rubbercap inplace and glued the cap on the shock with industrial glue, so it can't come loose and it won't leak!
Filled the shock with a big injectionneadle ( my wife is a nurse), and closed the filled gap with a small screw. Works fine and can let the air com out

The only issue I can't change the o-rings on the bottum.

What do you think, not a bad idea?

Why can't you change the o rings on the bottom?

Lets just hope one of your e-clips holding the pistons on doesn't come off and you have a piston flopping around in there.

True Robbyjuk, so made an other 2xpair, with the caps sealed with 2 micro screws. If all this does'nt work I go to bigboreshock

Just buy the metal bodies and tops mate, best 30 quid you will ever spend

when i used the plastic shocks, i solved the problem with glue.

After screwing the cap, put a small amount of super glue on it.

When you need to take the cap, just use a small blade between the shock body and the cap for cutting the glue and you are done

But the best is to buy alluminium shocks
