Default racing at the club

Hi there, i came along to watch your race last weekend with my kids. i'd like to get the older one (7) into racing, and i'd quite like to have a go again myself.

can anybody suggest which class is best for a beginner at your club and what sort of stuff we will need (i havent driven a RC car since about 1998)

also if anybody can suggest what sort of stuff we will need to race (how many batteries, whether there is a power supply to charge between races and how we come and practice with others)

can anybody share which cars are popular at the club and which are to be avoided?

sorry about all the questions......i thought it's best i ask you guys at the club i'm most likely to come to.

thanks

I would be tempted to look in the ansmamm section http://www.oople.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=81
at the man rat ready to run 2 wheel drive cars, thought to be a cheap start, cheap spares etc, you will break loads!. You will also need a lipo battery & lipo charger. give you something to look at until someone else comes along and contradicts me .

I would ask around trackside, often good secondhand stuff especially this time of year when drivers are changing kit for 2012.

Hi there!
Though we were obviously busy with the meeting we would have always made time for a chat (though it may have been brief!) on the day.

Your best bet is to keep an eye on our section here and see when we will next be trackside on a SATURDAY, we're often at the track on Saturday's, maintaining and prepping the track and have more time to talk about the club, what we do and what will be best for you and your family.

Would suggest not rushing into getting anything just yet until we've had a chat (don't think I'll personally be there this Saturday but others maybe around!) and discussed the options and what's popular at our venue (should always be a key consideration) and what may be available locally as there is often second-hand cars available from club members.

Initially we would ordinarily suggest a 2WD buggy as being the best option for a beginner or returnee for all sorts of reasons but we can talk about those and what else you may need when you're trackside.

Obviously we'd always encourage club membership (details here: http://www.edenparkraceway.com/about.htm) and amongst other benefits this entitles you to use the track when we are not racing and reduced race fees.

Hope to see you soon!

EPR Committee
