Default Xtreme stock with 8.5

You are really pushing the capabilities of the HW Xtreme stock with an 8.5 in a buggy which is why its getting hot, even with the fan on. Really they only meant for minimum of a 10.5 on road with 2 cell lipo nothing less.
Your best bet would be to get a HW V2/V2.1 120amp speedo this would be able to better cope with lower wind ( higher Kv ) motors and will not get as hot.

You wont have any trouble selling it at the moment as UK supplier of HW got robbed over the weekend. If you want to sell it let me know

Put the latest MOD sofware on it and it should be fine, stock software's way to agressive for mod motors. My Durango has one with an 8.5T motor and it runs perfectly and cool indoors and out.

I'm using V3.0_110119_MOD on my Xtreme stock. All turbo settings are off/at minimum settings and the punch is on 3. I've not tried the punch any higher as I haven't felt the need to, but at minimum it was fine too.

I've got another 4wd buggy with a 60amp Xerun and an 8.5T motor that uses V2.0_110528_MOD firmware with the same minimum settings and that runs perfectly too.

Mod software won't feel as quick as Stock software. The stock software revs modified motors too much which is why you have to use mod software to keep temps down and to stop you over revving and blowing up your motor.

I don't seem able to find the true motor limit for this ESC, 3 different sources here:

HobbyWing themselves say 11.5T on 2s:

http://www.hobbywing.com/product_show.asp?id=249

GiantCod seem to think it's 17.5T:

http://www.giantcod.co.uk/xtreme-stock-p-405301.html

and Racersinexile say 8.5T:

http://www.racersinexile.org.uk/Hobb...0_1757814.aspx

Just how are you meant to know which one is correct, lol ?

you need to check whether limits are "offroad"or "onroad" and whether you use turbo functions will have an effect

Default Stock, stock, stock

Sorry to be devils' advocate here but here goes.

Go by the manufacturers numbers and figures i.e www.hobbywing.com

There is a reason it's got 'Stock' in the name of the speedo because it is more suited to stock car racing which generally means in the UK 1/10th scale touring car which run 17.5t, 13.5t in a 'stock' class on road.

Did you get a warranty with your new speedo ?

If you nuke a Xtreme STOCK speedo by running it in a buggy with 8.5t would you return it and say 'Oh no, I was running it in a buggy off road with an 8.5t. See how far you get with a free repair or replacement for 'faulty' goods because you were not using it for the purpose it was intended which is 'stock' racing, on road in a touring car.

You really should be running as per my previous reply 120amp V2/2.1 Hobbywing for off road and you can program in all the bells and whistles on this speedo and have a bit in reserve if you do go a bit ott with the timing/turbo etc.

Here comes the flak ! !
