Hahaha, that's funny. We got a tiny percentage of what we'd ordered... leaving most of our pre-order customers disappointed.

Demand is far outstripping supply with Durango right now. Lesson? Don't release a cheap-price top-spec car without having the capacity to supply?

I´d say that´s right- on one hand it is a super compliment for Durango seing that their cars are so sought after these days. But i would stay fair and say that they could have thought that there will be increased demand for the 210 but i never thought there will be sooo much demand for all of their cars.
Maybe also working on so many projects (DNX408T, DEX408, DEX210 and producing the V3 apart from all Tuning parts and spares) wasn´t the most intelligent thing to do. Saying that why should they leave a group (1/10, 1/8) unsatisfied by concentratring on only one and leaving cash out?
A very complicated situation for TD for sure.

From the bits I've heard regarding shop supplies, TD are tricky to work with, limiting shops quotas of kits and supplying only a small percentage of shops requested numbers.

I love TD cars, but can't help thinking they are letting everyone down a bit. The cynic in me would suggest as they know demand is high (and they have a good customer base thanks to shops that supported them...), they are moving to a businees model where they are limiting shop supplies to force customers to buy direct from TD, that way they make a bigger margin per kit / spare etc.

TD must have known the approximate demand for the V3, if they got it very wrong, then fair enough - still a schoolboy error. 210 spares anyone
(ok I know they are finally filtering through )

Come on TD, sort it out and support our local hobby shops that are the lifeblood of this hobby

I don´t think they are limiting shop supplies to force people to buy from TD directly. At least they suggest to buy from your general distributor rather fromt the TD site. Shipping from TD to Austria is so expensive i would only buy from them directly in an "emergency" situation.
Or are you only talking about TD and the UK? That would make sense regarding the shippin costs.

Yes, UK.

From what I've heard some UK shops are being 'rationed'.
RC Lazy posted they got just a fraction of what they requested for example.
I don't know if this is due to numbers of kits not being available for the UK shops, or if it's part of a TD strategy to sell most of the kits itself.

I hope not, I'd always rather buy my gear from a shop, that carries spares and offers support than direct from the manufacturer. Especially if the cost is still the same to the public.

I wonder - are supplies scarce in countries other than the UK ?

I would think the "rationing" of how many kits the shops are getting would be more so that all of the shops get a few, instead of just one or two shops getting all of the kits.

As far as I've seen, Durango haven't had any 210s or V3s that they've sold through their site direct, so nothing to do with keeping the profits themselfs.

Back when the 410 was new, you could only buy it through them, then a few shops got to sell them, now there are a lot more shops selling TD stuff.

I'll think that you will find that TD haven't listed the V3 or 210 in stock ever all the kits have been sold through shops.

Although I think that delaying the release of the 210 and V3 until full part and spares back up was available I also think that with working on so many projects it may have also been an issue of cash flow. Perhaps they spread their butter a little thin.

Fabulous products just possibly need a little more forethought or market research prior to release. it is too late to change what has been but one would hope that they learn from this for next time.

Indeed there is! In Austria there were some V3´s coming in fromt he general distributor in Germany, they were sold off quick and the 210 never got to Austria. No Austrian dealer (and i must admit there are not many) have seen the 210 yet.

Its the same issue over here in Asia. Rationed is an understatement. The local distributor had to beg to get any stock. So people in the UK should consider themselves lucky as they get priority.
