Advice on complete setup

Hi Guys

I fancy getting back into a bit of 1/10 off roading again. In all honesty you can class me as a total newbie as i only had a very short "fad" interest in buggies about 13-14 years ago when i went to Oxon buggy club at Middle Barton a few times, i bought a XX cr kinwald edition that resides broken and in bits along with a pit box and a few tools in my dads shed somewhere.

After poking my head round the door at the MK gp (5 mins from where i live) at the weekend im really keen to have another bash at it. I was hoping that some of you might be able to recommend a few things before i go out and waste any money.

1) 2wd or 4wd to start up again? I fancy 4wd but i figure 2wd would be better to get back into it

2) Recommend a starting set up. Car/decent Radio gear/Electrics/Charger etc to be able to race once i had practiced for long enough not to embarass myself.

Any other advice greatly appreciated, i dont really have a budget in mind but want to keep it sensible but would like a quality set up that wont need upgrading to race with if that makes sense.

I would suggest starting with 2wd first, Schumacher Cougar SV Pro 2011 spec, any KO or sanwa radio gear( make sure it's 2.4ghz), Speed passion or Hobbywing speedo, they are basically both the same but hobbywing would be cheaper.

I would also suggest going along to your local club to see what most racers are using, this way you would be able to get help with set up and spares should you need them.

Hey thanks for advice. Unfortunately my local Newbury club appear to only do on road racing. That schumacher buggy looks awesome, i had been looking at the durango dex210 how would that compare, presume the schumacher kit is better?

Any good radios around £200 that you can recommend?

Never presume anything these days
Most of the 2wd buggies around today are all quality & you have plenty to choose from, you have associated b4.1, durango dex210, schumacher cougar sv, losi 22, x-factory x6, ansmann x2c, kyosho rb5 to name a few
I would see what your nearest club run, go along & have a chat with them, see what your local model shop stocks & then make a decision
At the end of the day it is the 1 that does it for you, not what does it for someone else

as i said my local club is Newbury but they only do on road which doesnt appeal as much as the buggies. Guess there must be some 1/10 off road in Berkshire somewhere

Both maybe fairly local to you.

I run on the Wednesday, but I suspect Milton Keynes is a bit too far away.

Thanks for thwe info gents, looks like they are all about an hour or more away so not that local. Perhaps i should try touring cars
