Default Tyre wear

Im running mini pins (yellow) on my x6,mainly carpet with a bit of polished floor,a brand new set has lasted me three club nights= 4 heats and finals x3,they are now pretty much useless, especially the rears
I know a fair bit depends on driving style, but is this about right or do i need to drastically change my driving style?

Nah sounds about right mate to be honest....when I had mine they would last about 4 meetings before being shot. I did run a slower motor inside, so running your normal outside motor (7.5, 6.5) then it might pay to run something a bit slower.

Hope this helps
Mark

So 15 total heats, not including practice?
That seems fairly reasonable.

My only question, other than your reference to "driving style," would be your motor choice (?) - as it seems most people that say something about wearing tires too quickly oftentimes have too much motor for the track they're running, and buzzing the tires (or excessive tire spin) seems to contribute to more tire wear than the actual mileage. And in your case, I see a lot of people running motors that are more suited to large outdoor tracks on smallish indoor tracks where the power isn't needed.

Thanks for the replies guys
Im running a Novak ballistic 7.5,with the speedo turned down & a slipper more on the loose side
So can be quite expensive for tyres then...
I do try & compensate for less rear grip..ie-slightly less rear camber, detatch rear roll bar, which seems to help
Do mini spikes give more longgevity on carpet? basically what i meen is when they are worn do they give more grip than a worn set of mini pins
I know i want grip & long lasting tyres which is not going to happen, i will just have to think buying 1/10th tyres for the indoor season every so often is like buying nitro fuel in the summer season.

I run an 8.5 outdoors/big track - so as I guessed you're over-motored - and I am currently running on a track inside a gymnasium, in which the layout is larger than a basketball court (don't know how it compares to yours), and found even my 10.5 was too much motor (have since gone to a 13.5 and it's still more than enough, turned down to 90%). I've never run mini-spikes, compared to mini-pins, but it would seem that they'd slip more and wear even faster. We only just moved indoors for the winter, so I don't know how many race nights I'll get out of a set of tyres, but 15 runs seems to be totally reasonable, IMHO.

One other thing to consider, and not knowing what set-up you're running, is thinking about taking out some of the rear toe-in - being as the added traction isn't needed on carpet. While not an option, I'm guessing you could get away with 0* rear toe, indoors on carpet, compared to the normal 3-4* that's pretty much standard outdoors.

There is a member here "OneKiwi," from Sweden, that is selling some VBC brand slicks - so maybe that's an option you can consider.

We don't get many more weeks out of a set of Schumacher Yellow full spikes on polished wood. Our hall is not massive and we are limited to 13.5, 12 - 13 second laps from the fast boys, and that's wheelspin from buzzer to buzzer!!!!!

I ran Ballistic pinks inside to try them out. I did two sets in an evening. Then Tried The soft compound D boot multibites and a set last an evening. The grip is perfect and I love them so I'll put up with doing a set per week. So what you are describing sounds very reasonable.
