Ive recently bought a good condition zx5 sp with quite a few spares that im happy with, but have noticed a crack in the chassis at the back. Instead of buying a new standard chassis i wondered if the fs conversion was still available to buy.
Ive seen some carbon fibre sp chassi's that look nice but is the fs much better than the sp as standard? My first buggy was a zx5 sp about 5 years ago and i loved it. What would you do? |

But this is expensive. From a Lazer SP to a Lazer FS2 almost everything is changed. Only the front suspension and difs are the same. Maybe it is possible to get a good price on a new Lazer FS2 now that the new Lazer FS2 SP is being released.

Ive heard some people say the fs2 isnt as good as the fs anyway. would the fs really be that much better on track than an sp? Should I just buy another standard sp chassis?
How does the fs2 handle differently to the fs? |

the fs and fs2 are not that much different unless you are one of the top drivers you would not notice that much the fs is not as aggresive as a fs2 where as the older zx5 sp is a completely different car. until recently I run an fs my mate runs a fs2. I currently am running a zx5 sp as I sold the fs because I needed the cash the fs is a much better car by a long way much more predictable than a zx5 but I enjoy the older car more of a challenge to dial it in. What ever you do don't by a after market carbon fibre chassis there crap just replace your old chassis with the standard carbon one ![]()

I found about 0.5s a lap changing from SP to FS ... found at least the same again when I put the one-way in the front of the FS.
FS is a great car, rear end is a little more hooked up than an FS2 in standard trim so if you like a lose rear the FS2 is the way to go otherwise the FS will be just fine. Now I have the FS2 dialed in I'd not change it for the world but equally I'd recomend the FS to anybody who likes a slightly more settled / hooked up car |

I guess as the FS & FS2 have been out a while very few people will hold this in stock BUT any good Kyosho parts supplier will get you one in double quick time as Neil's crew are very much on the ball.
I'd recomend JE Spares for anything Kyosho (actually anything at all) as they get a couple of deliveries a week from the mighty K' so will be able to get it for you in double super quick time without having to pass on special shipping charges or anything like that. GIVE THEM A CALL OR E-MAIL, don't expect to find LAW38 on their website! You will love the car .... remeber you NEED to buy a set of UM519 rear hubs at the same time as they are not included in LAW38 BUT are essential to build an FS spec car. |

Ran the sp for the first time tonight and it was excellent. Made a few small setup changes (springs, camber link lengths / heights, shock positioning and toe) and it went round the track almost effortlessly. I didnt have to fight it at all to drive how i wanted to. I think i will stick with the sp for now as i really cant see how the fs could go that much better. Ive also owned a bmax, b44 and db01 in the past and this is in another league.
Ive always been a 2wd man at heart but this car may change that. ![]() |

You have to try the FS. The SP was a really good car, the FS is an amazing car!
I'm not saying that you'll go 2secs a lap faster but you will go quicker and you will find the FS easier to be consistent with. I'm not sure of the price of the LAW38 kit but it will be worth it for sure! |

Heres my position. As it stands I love the car. I have tons of spares inc wishbones, towers, bulkheaf sets, hubs, caster blocks etc. if I go "fs" how many spares will then be useless? I dont like to waste money just for the sake of it

Thats a good point especially if you like the car.
Just bear in mind once the LAW38 are gone they are gone. It is a lot of parts in the bag for approx £115.00 |

Towers, castor blocks and wishbones all go on. The rear hubs should be changed to UM519 though to get the full benefit of the FS handling package

What difference does the um519 hub actually make?

HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The outer hinge pin hole is around 4.5mm higher (same as high position on the older Ultima hubs that had 3 holes for the hinge pin. That would result in an enormous difference in rear roll center and thus change the way the whole car handled. Basically put though you would have seriously less rear end grip if you use the SP hubs than the UM519, whilst the SP needed the rear end loser in comparison the FS has much less total mass both statically over the rear axle and transfered there under acceleration (part of the reason the FS is so awesome to drive is the very small amount the weight transfers around the chassis as you come on/off throttle compared to the old SP). Trust me, order a set of UM519 hubs and put them on at build, the car will be fantastic immediately! |
