Hey guys, I'm new here and was wondering a few things.
I'm thinking about getting an 8th nitro rc car off eBay. Is this a really bad idea? I myself think it should be alrit but I would like to know a few experiences. At the moment I have a tamiya Durga but I only have the stock engine onit and with all the problems it's giving me with the plastic and irritating belt I may as well shed the extra fourty quid to get a new nitro instead of brushless. Thoughts?s By the way, how much do you think a stock tamiya Durga would be worth rtr including battery, charger, and controller and the durga is slightly scratched on the underside from use. |

Before you buy anything I'd get along to your local club. You haven't listed where you are in the country but there is a list on the BRCA website so you'll be able to find one near you.
You'll be able to see what people are racing most at the club and chat to them about the best way to go. Unless you just want if for bashing ? In which case as long as you can get the spares for it anything will be fine ![]() |

i use to race a team associated rc8 factory team before i moved to 1/5th scale it was by far the best buggy ive ever owned and probaly the best buggy you can buy . parts are really easy and cheap to get hold of so theres no problems there .
as for buying off ebay always ashume you will need a new engine even though there are some really genuine sellers on ebay there are the few that rip you off so if it was me id buy a 1/8th roller then buy a brand new engine for it you know its right that way and you wont be chucking money away on a worn out engine . |

all you do to set a new engine up is run it for about 8/10 tanks on a rich setting slowly increasing the revs
go for a 21 3.5 cc engine its the best size for a buggy plus a few clubs will only let you run with a 3.5cc in a buggy there a few good engines out there it all depends on how much you want to spend . i had a few a nova rossi which was mental and prob not the best engine for you and i also ran a picco p3 b they dont make this engine anymore but theres a few new 1s knocking about so if you can pick one of them up your on a winner they cost about £85.00 which is about the starting point . in the past ive also ran GO RACING engines these are very cheap starting at around £70 but they are not the best about . the hobao hyper 21 engine is a good engine too but stay away from the mach 28 its terrible . force are pretty good engines they been making them for ages the thunder tiger 21 is a really good engine too a really strong and problem free engine if tuned right |

Try looking at a rtr 1/10th offroad buggy, loads to choose from but if you want to come and join the largest growing section of the brca then 1/10th off road it is,It,s cheap to start(£200)if you buy associated b4.1 rtr,no noise restrictions and no starting problems and very little maintenance, been there raced nitro to much hassle ,allways buying fuel at £30 a gallon,Go down to your local club and see what people race or look at the brca clubs and choose what car, where, how much money you have to do this hobby.Just a few pointers nitro smeely, dirty ,noisy,2 people needed to face one, electric clean ,cheaper, missus or mum lets you clean the in the house in the warm but don't get me wrong nitro is fun and you will enjoy it, it,s up to you mate.

Never mind, misread. I'm going into because my Durga is a pain in the arse, the belt is the biggest pain in the arse ever, I go over a curb and it slips off etc, then I have to undo twenty screws...
