Default TRF201 vs RC10B4.1

Ok, so before I even start on what this thread is obviously about, I just want to let everyone know that I am posting this thread in the AE section of the forum too. So now that you know I'm giving the RC10 guys a crack at this question too...

So which 1/10 scale 2wd electric offroad buggy do I get? I boiled it down to 2 cars. RC10B4.1 and TRF201.

I want to know which one is better. Give me pros and cons. I want to know which one turns better, which one is better suiter to smaller, tighter, more technical tracks. I run dirt(clay) exclusively. I never run any artificial surfaces. Which one jumps better? Which one has better mid corner handling? Which one is faster in the straights?? Any and every piece of info that pertains to my final decision will be much appreciated here. Let the debate begin...

I dont own either, but i would be heading towards the b4.1 straight away , it is a proven design , good support , advice and set ups. spares are very easy to come at most lhs .

We're busy racing our cars.....not trying to convince ourselves how good our cars are!!!!

But seriously.....I've owned both........raced both......and have driven them back to back.

Lets face the facts. Any one of the top drivers worldwide could make a shoebox look awesome on the track. We are talking about what an average racer needs. So we will discuss quality first. Ask any real racer what the 2 most important things in off-road are and chances are they will say shocks and tires. Tamiya has spared no expense when it comes to shocks. The shock bodies are hardened and fluorine coated. The coating helps combat friction and the hardening makes them strong which makes them stay round. Speaking of round.....Tamiya machines their shock pistons. Everyone else offer a molded piston. I have yet to find a perfectly molded piston. Most are not round but instead they are more oval and produce lots of friction and wear out a shock body very quickly. I've seen drivers of other cars replace shock bodies after a few months of racing. The shock shafts are Ti coated. This coating does the same thing as the bodies...low friction and minimal wear.

Tamiya molds all of their own parts, both alum and plastics. Since they control they molding process they control the quality of the mold and the plastic. There is no 2nd party outsourcing. I have yet to get a "bad batch" of anything from Tamiya.

Tamiya plastics are almost bomb proof. Yes, Tamiya parts break. (it's off-road.....everything breaks) Most Tamiya parts wear out long before they break. I've raced my buggy well over 40 times and have only broken 1 arm. The arm I broke was a reinforced arm that is an option part. I added the option arms to test them and hit a dead car on a high speed straight.......didn't know the car died and the driver didn't let anyone else know either. It wasn't pretty.

Yes the AE car is more popular. AE spares no expense when it comes to advertising. Tamiya spares no expense when it comes to quality. Not knocking AE....they make a great 2wd short course. When Tamiya decided to get into the 2wd buggy market they went "all in". You might have to stock a few more parts because your track doesn't stock Tamiya parts....but that's part of racing.

Besides all of these reason there are 2 more.

#1 Lee Martin (Tamiya's #1 off-road guy) gets on this forum and answers questions. Haven't seen many AE guys do that.

#2 and the MOST IMPORTANT reason is:

Tamiya Blue is beautiful!!!!! I've heard that Blue is better...but Tamiya Blue is BEST
