Default Mi2 servo arm

Im fitting a new servo to the mi2 and have noticed the servo arm has no splines inside to fit onto the output shaft on the servo , so is it the wrong arm ? or just worn out as even with the securing screw its still easy to turn the arm with no servo movement ,

Andy

could it be you have fitted something like an Acoms horn to a Futaba splined servo or it is one of those horns where you fit a conversion ring onto the servo & then fix the horn onto that.

Hi mate thanks for the reply , Irrespective of the spline size / type the thing thats confusing me is the arm itself , ive fitted many servos over the years (in model boats ) but havent seen this before , It looks like the arm that came with the kit , In your post you refer to a conversion ring , never come across one of those , where can they be bought ?

Hi Andy

i think Wolfie is refering to the large kimborough range of servo saver/arm
they had a large hole in the centre of the arm which you fitted an adaptor usually 3 different adaptors came with the kit for futaba ko acoms and sanwa spline I cant remember exactly but i think futaba/savox is 25 spline and KO/acoms is 23 but dont quote me

it is possible the splines have worn away in the arm .
daft question are you fitting a new (different brand) servo ?

hope this helps
dave

Having recently bought the car it came with a dodgy servo , so a new one was ordered , when i took the old one out i noticed the same issue with the old one , i lost no parts when taking apart , is this the kind of thing you guys are refering too ?

the fastrax item is similiar the kimborough version was a servo saver ie it was springloaded so in the event of a crash the load was taken off the servo to stop it stripping the gears inside

i have been helping a young racer who has had similiar issues with a mi3
i made sure a replacement arm had the correct splines and issue was resolved

the Mi2 (at least the one i used to have anyway) has a Servo saver built into the car chassis, so doesn't require a spring-loaded servo saver.. a standard horn will do the job as per the kit, however if it is the kit one fitted, the Futaba (25 spline i think) has an "F" embossed onto it & if not embossed with an "F" it should have other initials such as an "S" to indicate Sanwa, which i think is a 23 spline arm & one marked with an "H" for Hitec.

I had one of those Fastrax servo horns & there are 3 adapters that come with it, so make sure you use the right adapter with the horn with 23,24 & 25 spline conversions depending on what servo you use.. if you have a Futaba or Savox servo or one of the many budget servo's or servo's that come as branded with an RTR car (which are usually rebadged Futaba 3003's or 3004's). then you need to run the 25... Acoms (or Carson), Sanwa & KO usually run the 23 fitting & other than a hitec servo, i'm not aware of any servo with a 24 spline.
