Default GT14B Questions

I am thinking of getting a GT14B to race over the winter.

First Question: What is the deal on tyres and wheels for the National series? what are allowed and what work? I know nothing about wheel/tyres for anything other than 1/10th off road. Who makes the tyres/wheels? do they have inserts? are there different compounds? Are they TC wheels or unique to micros?

Second question: Is the ESC and motor in the RTR OK or do these have to be replaced?

Third Question: Is the TRT the way to go? is there not a rolling chassis version?

Fourth Question: Does anything need upgrading/replacing?

Cheers
Neil

Default uk micro rc

Theres loads of info on the uk micro rc forum.
They are pretty good to go out of the box, just need lipo and a pinion change.
I believe the hinge pins/ holders were changed for the second batch, but ive never had a problem anyway.
Kit tyres are pretty good but rally blocks or spikes seem the most popular. 1/10 tc fit straight on.
They truly are a fantastic piece of kit for the price. Pound for pound, definitely the best value rc ive ever bought. The kit speedo and motor are brilliant.
Theres a shop got them on offer who has made a new thread on ukmicrorc.

On my phone so excuse the short sharp replies.

1: Schumacher white rallyblocks are the most common with Schumacher blue inserts. Any TC wheel. No cutting and shutting, no additive, no warmers.

2: Harris, Bish, Sleigh all use the standard ESC but use a faster motor currently unavailable. The std motor will easily make an A-main though, we are just power whores

3: RTR only, no roller. We all started with RTR, its ideal

4: Personally, CVD's front, turnbuckles obviously, cheap bearings for steering draglink from rcbearings. Front tower could do with carbon fibre upgrade. If running kit motor you need a 14t pinion in 48dp/0.5mod depending who you ask.

UkMicroRC has all the answers and top drivers on... plus me lol

Hope that helps?

Ps: www.tracksidespares.co.uk is doing the GT14B cheap for a limited time

Cris

I fancy a crack at some of the micro nationals and we have 4 gt14b's running at my local club in bracklesham bay.

1 still using STD tyres at the moment. Mini pins work well too. Not tried rally blocks yet.

2 I use the STD motor with a hobby wing 25a speedo. Better throttle response and we've had issues with the STD esc turning off when the car rolls. Even removing the switch didn't cure this on my one. I can also run the car outdoors on astro for 8 minutes with no issues. The STD esc would cut out on full power (16t pinion). It was only 1 lap off the top 1/10 4wd at TORCH last week

3. Rtr only

4 replace the servo with an ino labs 268. The STD servo is ok until you drive a car with one of these in.
Alloy hinge pin holders recommended. The plasic ones break easily.
Spare hinge pins a must as they are quite soft
Cvd front driveshafts

Batteries - rcmodelimports 800 mah lipo's wired in parallel to make 1600 work well.
Hard servo saver spring

Hope that helps

Question carisma gt14B

Quick question about the buggy lay out guys. What mini lipo saddles fit? And does the carbon chassis conversion allow you to run mini sticks down one side?

Cheers in advance

For lipo saddles, currently only the Carisma ones, but i do know of an online shop that is trying to import the Team Scream lipos, whcih are awesome.

Regarding the carbon conversion, no, its still saddle formation.

I've gone for a single pack layout, using the the Team Scream 1000mah single pack, gives me much more space by putting the esc down where the left of the saddle packs normally is.

Oh cheers Mat, appreciate the detailed post mate if you get chance to post a pic of your layout that would be brilliant. Keep me posted on Team Scream on line retailer if you see any developments

Default Questions

Hi Guys

Have taken the plunge and got a carisma gt14 however was just making a few changes and was wondering how you check the slipper and diffs. Thought they were set up like a b44.1 but when i test them the same way they seem to slip. Also when changing the slipper plates for ally ones does the spring replace the 3 washers - was hoping that there was a diagram and want to make sure its right - any help much appreciated

Default Lipos

I have 4 new sealed packs of Overlander 800miliamp 40c 7.4volt lipos to sell £10.00 per pack plus £1.00 postage. (these can be used singley or as a pair you will get 7-8 mins run time out of 1 pack). I also have several s/hand packs in good condition £5.00 per pack plus postage.

Yeah, the spring replaces the washers, and it's much. much better, feels more like a 1/10th slipper.

worth getting some ceramic balls for the diffs, super smooth!!

Replace all the washers with Spring when putting ally slipper plates on, yes.

You can then set then set diffs and slipper up exactly the same as your B44 Jamie.

The slipper should always slip before the diff.

Front diff can be set a little tight as this aids handling.
