Default B44 to S4

Hi all

Can you use the b44 as a base for the S4 Kit.

I have a s4 and bought a b44 as well to do just this. The only thing I see needs to be done is with the slipper and the slipper mount. the rear slipper mount has a wider stance than the s4/bj4 does so it looks to me that new holes would need to be made. Im not sure if the slipper will fit as well. Could possibly rub on the 2 forward cells (as per johnathan @ atomic) I did change over the rear hubs and cva's, the front hubs, spindles and cva's and the diff outdrives.

Wouldn't the rear of the chassis need moddding to fit the plastic rear bulkhead thingy?

also putting the rear plastic thing on would possibly have too much flex meaning a rear top-deck would be needed.

My guess is Jonathon has been thinking about all this from the very first press release of the B44. He seems a very capable designer, sure he'll have it all covered.

It would be great if Jonathon did convert a B44 to S4.
The S4 is THE SEX in my humble opinion lol

will be interesting to see how it would perform compared to a bj4-s4 conversion

i cant see how there would be much difference between the 2 essentially the geometry is identical with some of the parts now made from plastic rather than alloy.
There may be some reliability issues due to the material changes but we will know this from the breakages the b44 suffers in the hands of numpties rather than those who can drive.

i guess JC is already looking into using the b44 as a base as this would be a much more economically friendly way to become an S4 owner + i like the idea of being able to swop the rear arm holder when it wears out rather than needing a new chassis.

my only concern is the new slipper might have the same flaw as some diffs where if they are run backwards they undo themselves, this would mean new slipper shaft & nut with thread reversed, new center driveshafts at different lengths or if we're lucky there is space to add a 2nd adjustment nut to lock onto the main one.

I was at the Newbury meet. All I will say is that I wouldn't go adjusting the S4 to fit a B44 just yet.
