I've just fitted a sr3500 micro rx with a Savox 1258tg servo and the servo draws so much power from the rx it shuts down after three turns.
I have throttle, steering auxiliary and bind ports Obviously I'm going to need a power cap, but can I put the spektrum cap in the bind port and the transponder in the auxiliary port? Or will I need to put the PT in the bind and cap in the auxiliary port? Thanks |

You can fit the P.T or power cap in any port, the live and negative rails are joined across all 4 channels so it makes no difference.
However, if your receiver is shutting down by turning the servo 3 times under no-load, a power cap wont fix it, sounds like the servo is the issue. This happened with a guy at our club, and once he changed the servo, the problems went away. We fitted a large powercap, and it made it slightly better, but didnt fix the issue until the servo was replaced. |

I've always thought this was the issue, it even happened with my sr3300t rx
So what's the problem as the servo it rated at 6v but is also digital coreless... If that's what's making it draw to much power What similar performance servos are available that don't draw a similar amount of current from the rx |

The Savox servos draw a lot of power.
Futaba BLS series is the way to go. |

I'm running savox 1258tg in both my cat and cougar with sr3500 receivers with no problems at all. No power caps fitted either. Also running SP gt2 pro esc's with Orion 90c cells if they make a difference.

The specs of the servo isn't an issue, and as Ian just pointed out he runs his with no problems.
I think your problem lies with a dodgy servo, have it sent back to CML for testing. |

how old is it? have you opened the case at all, are you using the correct servo horn and screw?

this happened to a friend of mine(on a 1/8 nitro),the car kept going into failsafe after only a few turns of the servo,having changed batteries and tried a different receiver it was still the same

This is a servo problem...it clearly needs looking at thoroughly.
A powercap is not going to help. I wouldn't sell it until that's done in my opinion. |

captainlip, you say the servo draws power from the receiver but you do not mention where the receiver gets its power from. If you are using an ESC it may very well be the problem. Some ( most commonly cheaper) ESCs do not have beefy BEC-circuits to handle the current draw of a poorly designed servo. I have never seen such a problem with competition speced ESCs from LRP and/or Novak.
Savöx servos are OK but draw more Amps than Futaba, Sanwa, Orion and the other high-end servos do. There you have some of the explanation behind Savöx's lower price, they use cheaper components, but du still make OK servos. While I agree that BLS servos are quite an easy load, Sanwa ERG-servos are even better in that respect. That is something I base on actual testing of current draw during normal use and stalling.

I had the same problem, the reciever would shut down after turning the steering only once !! A power cap fixed it and not had any problems since

Tekin rs pro, defo not the speedo. Applied many tests, wirings perfect.
Powercap sorted it on my sr3300t so will do it for the micro no doubt. I've been meaning to put an ace servo in for a while so may be time to do a test |

Sanwa and Futaba make the best equipment on the market. My recommmendation for Futaba is mainly because it is better value and more widely available in the UK. |
