Default LIPO Charge

Hi All,

Its my night for questions! Had my first day running a LIPO today, was very very impressed! However, is suggests storing at about 75% of charge, but how do I know what this is given you don't discharge them?

Also, I know they are efficient but I was only able to get @900mah into the LIPO after each 5 minute run with a 6.5 motor in a 2wd buggy, does this sound possible? Its at that point that it has reached 8.4v and then drops the current to zero!?

Dave

Hi Dave,
Lipo's don't discharge as much as NiMH batteries do, so all i do is charge them up when I need them and that's it.
As for the amps going in...
Charging on a Lipo is CC/CV instead of Delta Peak. It charges at your amp rate until the battery gets to 8.4v (for a 2 cell pack). This is the CC (constant current) bit.
At this point, you are somewhere around 90% fully charged. The charger will then reduce amps to keep the voltage from going too high until that last 10% or so is done. This is the CV (constant voltage) bit.

This is normal for Lipo charging, nothing to worry about
