Default X4Pro Gearbox Upgrade

as alot of you know the rear gearbox on the X4Pro isnt up to scratch and has a big thing of destroying the pinion and crown gear's, what i have besigned with the help of my friend tony and his machening skills.

what we have done is fitted a bmax rear gearbox to the car, but we found a snag the bmax runs diferent bearings, so tony has made 3 collars that sit in the bearings with a little lip on them so they dont spit out.
another thing is that the gearbox top has the shock mountings moldings and i have removed them so i can use the X4 shock tower

one added twistjust to make shure the gearbox is bullet proof i have fitted the caster metal gears. i will be running it this weekend at southport to see how it goes

will put some pics up soon and a report of how it works

Or you can try the updated rear gearbox TO4039 which allows the rear CVA to sit flat rather than on the angle (see pic's). If you've ever stripped the rear pinion then this should help prevent that.

I had to re shim the pinion as it was too tight I put both shims to the front near the pinion. (Pinion, 2x shim bearing bearing).

I ran the car at the weekend and i have to say the new gearbox has made a massive difference to the car, the response has improved and i even ran the std diff gear with a 5.5 and it was perfect. i am now looking forward to some setup work with the car, and get it running as good as i know it can. i will be stripping it down tonight and will have the pics up to show the modifications.

I used this part for the first time on the weekend in racing conditions and give it a massive . I was able to set the brake strength a lot higher and the drive train seems so much more efficient.

I need to correct my above post regarding the shims it should be
Pinion - 1 x shim - bearing - bearing 1 x shim it's much better

Yeah I have a shim on the pinion and one either side of the diff. The Car is lot more free rolling than the x4pro. Running mine with slipper quite tight and have had no munched gears yet.

lol.
I also shim the diff in the middle. Yea the ability to set slipper and brakes to where they shoud be had been great.
THIS IS A MUST HAVE UPGRADE
