Default What width Front rims for Slim Mini Spikes ?

I know it's a basic question for most but all i've been using are Stagger Ribs & Ribs on my local track.

Basically i want to mount Mini Spike 2 - Slims (Part No: U6550) to my Ansmann front rims (Part No: 125000431) but can't quite see whether these front wheels need to be cut down or not, it looks like they do tbh as they look a bit stretched when i dummy mount them.

Thanks,

Dan.

I use the 2wd insert. Or a rear insert cut in half.

slim rims are really only for old staggers, although it a matter of choice, foam inserts should be at least as wide as the tyre, and again a matter of how much grip you like,

If i mount them to standard width front 2wd tyres using 2wd inserts they just seem a little dipped in the middle of the tyre tread ie, stretched, the tyre wall also looks stretched. I tried some 4wd inserts (straight out of the packet, no edges cut etc) & these certainly 'fill' the tyre but make the tyre feel a bit hard.

Like you've said, maybe it's all down to preference whereas i was thinking there was a right or wrong way to mount this combo, just my lack of experience preventing me from knowing which way is best.

Interesting you say slim rims only really for old Staggers even though 2wd Mini Spikes are the same width as old Staggers ??

True, though if i fitted the incorrect size tyres to my real car & they looked stretched/wrong i'd question whether they were right for the wheel.

I don't need to decide too soon at least, i only need them glued up for Stotfold tomorrow, lol
