Default been away from this for a while

sorry if its posted in the wrong area:
Hi everyone, it seems an eternity since i last raced 1/10th electric off roads and i am looking at trying it again, i used to race at the west craven club which raced indoors at townley school (burnley) & ball grove (trawden) and outside was up windy hill (foulridge), i live burnley area in lancashire and was wondering where my closest clubs to attend/visit, i have seen there has been a lot of advances in batteries/motors and the cars etc and was wondering what is the best package over all (i know everyone has their own recomendations etc) i used to race 2wd and 4wd, 2wd i owned and raced, last one being Losi XX but before that i had cougar 2000 etc (said it was a while ) and the 4wd i owned was the kyosho ZX-R, be nice to hear your opinions on this and maybe hear from anyone who may of raced at west craven regards Chris Crewe

Default NW clubs

Hi

Your nearest meet is at Shuttleworth College in Padiham run by RossMobs and is every other Weds night (not this coming Weds but the one after) - see this link - http://www.rossmod.co.uk/page/37/News

Then it will be Ribble Valley who meet in Leyland on Fri pm every week - see the clubs sections - http://www.oople.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=87

After that there is Bury which is outdoors on Sundays (although not sure when the first "proper" meet is on thier new out doortrack) - http://www.oople.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38

Roundabout Raceway is/was at Denton every other Weds so its doesnt clash with RossMods but this Weds is the last night there until they can find a new venue - http://www.oople.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=75

Slighly futher afeild there is Southport - http://www.oople.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=111 , Keighley http://www.oople.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=99 or Batley http://www.oople.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=13

(hope all the links work - tbh you can find them all bar RossMods in the club section on the forum).

Cars - up to you and your budget - but do go for lipo and brushless whatever car you choose.

Cheers for the links i will go and look at the ross mods as it is only 5 mins away from me but will want to check out the rest of the clubs as i want to race where i can do, using the lipo and brushless route will the ESC's need to be specific to the brushless route or will any do the job? im wanting to keep to BRCA listed stuff incase i decide i want to try out regional meeting etc, im looking for as much info as i can get before purchasing equipment, cars etc, i know it was frowned upon when i raced but are people willing to others try the cars or shops that have demo models or cars for hire etc?

Burnley warrior

There are still a few West Craven guys racing, some quite a bit.

Get yourself down to Shuttleworth College; don’t expect a high profile meeting but you will get to know what’s what.

Default escs etc

Hi

On esc's - go for a "budget" combo that has an esc and a motor - see this thread http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69737 for example plus others in teh electrics section. All modern bushless combos work with lipos.

If you go to any of the clubs mentioned and have a chat you can get loads of info - I will be at Roundabout this week and RossMods next. Also, the guys at the RossMod shop, Dave at Roundabout Models in Ashton or Radio Racers in Leyland (plus others!) will help you out.

Personally, I went for a B44 as its strong, simple and spares are widespread, a cheap ezrun 9T 35a combo (will upgrade when I am ready to do so from an ability point of view) from HK and a Spektrum radio set up.

The first proper meeting was last Sunday. We are now open. Its still a little sandy and we are improving a few features, but the track is pretty much operational. And stupidly grippy too.
