Default New track in Weston-super-mare

Heard from a member of Mendip club last night that they are about to start building an off road track next to the car park at their well known nitro on-road track just outside W-S-M

Plans as far as I know are for it to be 10th sized

and astro turf was mentioned

Hopefully one of their members will get on here with some more concrete information ....

If I find out more, you guys will be the first to know

Now that would be good. Their on road track is top class, so can only imagine an off road track would follow suit.

That's at least 5 minutes drive from my house, TOO FAR

Hahaha looking forward to seeing how this pans out, I miss racing at Mendip, always had so much fun there with my 1/5th scale!

Whilst I'm not a member of the Mendip Club, I attach below the relevant section from the Club AGM minutes (available from the Mendip Website)

"Another decision that was made at the meeting was to clear the area to the left of the club car park and build an 'Off-Road' circuit. Work should hopefully start in early January so we will need helpers for this task...and it will assist in getting some of the weight off after all the Christmas fare.
More details on this soon"

Great news from a great club

Well work has started at last

Just the start of the basic structure for now..... We got the wall ride built, a massive bank of earth that should be a lot of fun to race up and over and also the table top which is over a metre high

It all needs smoothing off a tad, and hopefully with a few more tonnes of soil we can get some more jumps in but for now it's looking ace

BTW, anyone got any astro turf going free ?

Si, email the BRCA. There are normally quite a few places getting rid of astro and they do often contact the BRCA

I'd certainly be interested to know more about this venue. Used to race 1/8th circuit at Mendip many moons back.

Hopefully a friendly local will get some pics up soon for you all to see TBH there's not a lot yet but things are going in the right direction, and what is there looks freakin awesome

Size wise, I'd say we're looking at a track similar to Tivvy outdoor track at Heazle, perfect IMHO ....

Smile Mendip Off Road Track

Hello peeps,
You've already heard about the birth of our new baby....the off-road track at the Mendip Raceway.

We started work early yesterday and first cleared the area of all the rubbish and bins with the aid of a JCB.
By the end of the day the area was looking just like a 'new-born' should....not the prettiest thing, but with plenty of room to improve.

My fellow Mendip committee members and me are actively designing the track shape as we speak, and it will surely undergo much metamorphosis before it is fully developed.
There will be an run of 'before and after' pictures on our website (www.mmmrc.org) so keep an eye on that for details.

We are very much aware that this will be a developing project, but we fully intend to have the track up and running before the end of the summer...at least.

Please keep an eye on our website for progress reports.

Many thanks to all club members who attended and helped out yesterday, and also to the guys who came along to offer their services. Much appreciated.

Cheers
Mike
MMMRC Chairman
