Default Off-road at SDRCC this weekend

Just to let you all know, it is the second round of the Stonehaven off-road club championship this coming Sunday (17th April).

We plan to try a layout for our Scottish round in May, so this is an ideal opportunity to get some off-road practice on grass ahead of the next couple of rounds of the Scottish Series.

We plan to start around 10am, however we will be setting up the track from around 9am. Race fee is £10 for non members.

Feel free to contact me via PM on here or email me through the email function.

Thanks,

Marc Baynham

If you join the club, it drops to a nice £5.

NORA even closer, and we will be running very shortly.

Pop along and help with the track when we are there and you may be pleasantly surprised at our race fees

I will try and make it up Mark.
The weather is to be nice again.
Will there be pitting available in the club tent?

Guys,

Let's not get too carried away with a "my clubs better (or cheaper) than your club" scenario. Marc was simply advertising our next club round, aimed at mainly local racers with a possible sprinkling of Dundee lads. I wouldn't expect anyone to make a 2.5 hour trip for a club round when there are other clubs on their own doorstep.

Like Jim, I don't think it's an unreasonable amount if it's only once or twice. If someone wants to race more often then it makes sense to join the club and benefit from the cheaper race day fee's and unlimited access to the facilities. (membership covers both offroad and onroad)

Anyway, rant over.

Ps. Kenny. The pit tents will be up. Not that we'll need it in the glorious northeast sunshine. Ahem!

As Darren says, I was only trying to promote our club a bit, especially for anyone within an hours drive who may have forgotten there is a meeting on this weekend. We are making a real effort to promote R/C racing in the North East just now, and over the winter were getting regularly 30+ at indoor club meetings.

Kenny, yeah there will be tents/gazebos available. There is also 240v power too. We do have a few tables in the shed for those who don't have one. First come first served.

In terms of the race fees, it is really of little impact when a set of tyres is £20+ and most of us have £1000+ worth of gear. One thing most people forget about Stonehaven is, we have a lease to pay and a large bit of ground to maintain.

As has been said before, anyone is welcome to come along, participate in a relaxed days racing, make a few friends and (hopefully) get a bit of a Suntan!

Marc

I didn't intend to prompt an argument, sorry.
I haven't raced for ages, & it just seems to me to be a lot to charge for a wee club meeting, especially if it's double what a club member pays.

I would consider making the fairly long drive up on a date I could make (can't this weekend), but you're charging the same as a BRCA round, & I'm assuming the track isn't going to be such a challenge.....?

I'm not knocking "advertising the meeting", quite the opposite in fact, -the "locals" probably welcome the extra competition, but I don't think the race fee encourages that.

I once paid £25 for an entry fee, (& many years ago!) but the track & venue was a one-off.
Comes down to value-for-money, in my personal opinion.

No problem, I'll take on board your comments and feedback to the rest of the committee. If the fee is putting people off, then we will review it.

Track wise, we have a table top in build, and at the last club meeting we had 4 jumps. The track was slightly larger than the one used on Sunday at Falkirk.

No Problem David.

The next round of our off-road championship is also the 3rd round of the Scottish Championship, in mid May.

I'll mention to the rest of the committee regarding the race fees and see what they say. If it is putting people off, then it should be looked at.

I appreciate that with the price of fuel as it is, travelling long distances is expensive, so I don't expect load of guys to travel just for a club meeting.

Cheers

Marc
