That has been on the drawing board for nearly a year and we havent heard a thing about it for ages. I believe it has been shelved.

Hmm, wonder if the same thing has happened to the 801E, for whatever reason (Market, economy, politics, competitiveness) it seems a few potential vehicles may never see the light of day!

I guess a major issue is whether enough people in he markets SC and 8thE are popular in run Tamiya at all to make it viable!?

tamiya's prices really aren't the most competitive our there, their 201 isn't bad (although its just a b4 ) but their 1/8 buggy was expensive, then you still had to drop the weight w/more expen$ive option parts. the 4wd is $$$. $120 more then the kyosho and and only $150 less then the full opt. durango with less options.. if they could drop the prices tamiya could really do some damage. i know Tamiya does everything in house, but so does Kyosho and their 1/10th scales are still cheaper.

but regardless, i'd like to have an arsonal of TRFs this fall for the winter season i'm still debating though

Is the 201 really just a B4?
Are the RB5 cheaper than 201?

Don´t think 511 is so expensive, has less plastic than any other buggy? Not only that, it also has performance like no other buggy...

in the USA the RB5 and 201 are the same price. and if you can show me 3 ways its really different (i.e. geometry, layout, or otherwise) its the same

the lesser amount of plastic doesn't make it better just prettier, but i know the 511 is a great car, i want one. but even it shares the same geometry of the b44.

Thats not true. It LOOKS the same, but there're several subtle differences. Ackerman, steering system, suspension, bulkhead arm mounting points, camber link placement etc etc.

Put them side by side and you'll see the difference.

Why is the Durango $270 more than the Kyosho?

How many actually purchased the Durango because they thought it would be $270 better than a Kyosho on the track? It is all down to personal preferences.

I got quite a few negative comments when I ran the 511 2 years ago. "Overdesigned", "Why carbon and alu, plastic is just as good" etc.

If you´re happy with your plastic car, fine. I´m happy with my overdesigned carbon and alu car, ok?. What´s the problem? Is it a must that we all like the same cars?
Do we all like the same batteries, radios, servos, chargers, motors? No? Why?

These discussions are pointless imo.

ok if there are those differences then i retrack my statement.. i just remember in a review they were put next to each other and the angle were the same.

i know why they cost more.. i said i get that, but if your pricing yourself out of the market then there wont be a market for these new products (eBuggy and SC trucks) don't think im bashing tamiya.. i love their products.

however, even durango realized they had to come down in pricing, they released the R. i would expect the next car to be a hybrid between the two..

i never said anything was wrong with the product. we don't have to like the same cars either. but i was responding to a comment of why (possibly) they aren't releasing cars that are causing the largest growth the RC community has ever seen. and think the last part of your statement was just a bit of built up frustration.. and thats ok but i didn't ask any of that

You still seem to have missed my point and yours for that matter.

None the less, Tamiya makes great cars. Even if they're not too different from the competition. But they are expensive when compared to other makes when they first came out.
