Default Sway bar Mounts

I'm looking for some aluminium sway bar mounts for the back of my X6 i have some plastic one's at the moment but you can't really tighten them there too soft and just collapse. There along the line of a P clip or cable clip but in an rc type fashion, any ideas?

I use Schumacher part U3499 which is really good. It is plastic but it has a set screw so you can take all the slop out of the roll bar.

Are you talking about where you fix the centre of the bar to the car?

Common way to do that is to take the rear shock tower off, carefully cut a thin slot into the back of the plastic where the rear shock tower attaches (I used a junior hack blade and cut it in by just a touch deeper than the bar thickness, and positioned it between the upper and lower fixing holes) and use the rear shock tower to hold it in.

Not going anywhere then!!!

There is also a thread with pics of this method from one of the team guys in the X Factory section if you have a bit of dig about

yeh cheer's pinky that's how some of the lad's run their's, just think it look's so much nicer attached to the rear of the tower and easier to get to (for the sake of 2 screws). Also there's something just abit macarbre about butchering a slot through the bulk head.

Fair enough! Not seen any ali bits to do that job, but those schumacher bits look tidy anyway

I'm a bit of a minimalist when I can be...and hiding it away using parts that are already on the car looks cleaner to me, but each to there own init

Are you tightening against the bar itself?

Don't forget that the sway/roll bar must be free to move and any screws are there just to remove slop and provide a firm pivot point.

Yeh yeh, the ones i'm using are held under the 2 of the rear shock tower screws and it's these you can't really nip up so i just worry a little about running the rear tower loose or only partially tight but yeh i know about not clamping the actual bar, but cheers for the input anyway.
