100 tooth 64dp spur and 20t pinion
100 tooth 48dp spur and 20t pinion is there any difference in ratio/rollout ? i say no but a mate says yes ? |

No difference whatsoever from a ratio point of view. The 48DP versions will be a larger diameter than the 64DP versions, that's all.
Gear ratio is all about ratio - the ratio of one to the other. It has nothing to do with the diametral pitch (DP) of the teeth. Providing the tyres are the same diameter for each set of gears, the rollout will be the same too. Hope you had a humungus bet with your mate, 'cause you just made a mint!! |

Yup, never ceases to amaze me. All your mate had to do was type "gear ratio" into Wikipedia, read the article, and save himself looking like a prat. Probably spending too much time posting pictures of himself on Facebook!!
