Default Good times/Bad times...

So, back in the hobby after a 15 year break, first meeting I ran was a 4wd regional at Coventry - not the greatest place to ease myself back in after such a long break but very enjoyable it was and even better - I didn't finish last! Good times.

Sooo, after a misadventure at the weekend I know have a steering hand in a cast for the next six weeks - and I was so looking forward to a bit of club racing over the next few months...Bad times.

I'm considering trying a wheel radio in the meantime just to get some more racing action but realistically I know this is probably a no-go.

Bah.

Bad news, but depending on the position of your break you could always take a Dremel to the cast and remove enough to hold a stick transmitter. I've seen it done many a time before

Adam,

sorry to hear that mate. As Phil says there are ways and means to modify the cast, I remember Super-Dan having his set in such a way he could hold a transmitter (think he took it to casualty with him!).

Having raced with both in the past I'd say that your much better off trying to work with your stick set first before taking the plunge .... especially as your on Futaba 2.4GHz equipment so it's not the cheapest to keep swapping about!

If I can help mate you know where I am (actually .... I have spare Spektrum Rx's and the more budget Spektrum transmitters come up quite often if you did want to go wheel for a few weeks).

Scaphoid it is Liam which as you know means an immobilised thumb in a scaphoid cast, guess I'll just have to tough it out and wait...ah well what's another 6 weeks or so?!

cheers all.

Done it myself bud...except I was in plaster for 9 weeks

Its the hardest healing bone in the whole body and you got to just rest it.

If you dont rest and it dont heal then next they will drill out bone from your hip and transplant it into your scaphoid leaving you unable to walk or race!

Guess your right handed then? Gonna be hard hard month or so unless you have a missus!

As you already prob know its know as a boxers fracture...welcome to the club! When the cast came off mine i needed about a month to get the stregnth back....you should be able (i believe) to touch your thumb with all your fingers in turn if its fitted right.

Thanks for the info mate, has spurred me on even more to make sure it is rested - I don't much like the sound of the alternative!

On the upside I'm left handed and I have a missus so I guess someone up there still likes me

Excellent! You have it all covered!

If you like hot x buns thats good cause cinnamon can help bone healing...also go for a high protein diet, you can get extra protein from just having one of those muscle shakes.

Also get a good multivit...centrum is the best...all the others have silicon dioxide in them which is a neuro-toxin so that wont help with the reactions for racing

Mine hurt more after the cast came off then when i broke it. Stupid me for watching Rocky films and booking a boxing lesson with a commonwealth medalist!

Good luck and time to get the Scaletrix out

Adam,

nasty one ... I did that BMX racing as a kid. I gave away my steerwheel set or else you could borrow that .. might still be worth trying one.

The next regional is 15th MAY at Ledbury so it's a bit touch and go, the weekend after is a 2wd event at "the bowling green" (Hinckley) and they might well have a guest class.

Let me knowmate, we'll sort something out

if you could put your radio down on a flat surface you could possibly use your index or middle finger.

I'll give you a call over the next week mate, chassing up a wheel set for you to try and hold with the option to borrow if you can use it.
