Default Dudley Indoor - Sunday 18th Nov 2007

With a bit of luck, I'll be entering this. (Road car depending, as its in the garage this week).

Who is planning on going? This will be my first 10th off-road meeting.

Cheers,

Chris.

Chris,
Apologies for not making it over to Leominster on Friday..
I pulled my back on Thursday night playing badminton, so felt terrible Friday night.

I will be going to this, doing 4wd.

Mark

that's alright Mark, I had an awful night anyway. I managed 4 and a half minutes in the first heat, then my brushless system seemed to thermal.

After that, it just wouldn't run at all, it kept stuttering when trying to pull away, and the steering was moving left / right, almost as if it was glitching. I changed the crystals, receiver & sensor lead. I also reset the speedo, and tried a few different throttle settings, but I got nowhere.

I came to the conclusion that its probably a motor problem (Not sure why this would affect steering tho!). The speedo is brand new, but the motor is an old Nosram 3 star one. Not sure how to tell if it is duff or not now though.

I'll try the speedo with a brushed motor, and see how it goes. Failing that, I've got another brushed speedo I could use for Sunday.

If you need some kit for Sunday, I can provide you with speedo etc.

I think your problem may lie with the older motor (Brushless). It also sounds like your sensor wire may be on the way out, so it may be worthwhile trying a new one (or borrowing mine to try), since this can cause all sorts of grief.

Which speedo do you have (Brushless)?

The speedo I have is a Nosram Matrix (The original one). I tried changing the sensor wire, but it didn't make any difference.
I'm fairly sure its the motor. I can't see why it would affect the servo though.

Thanks for the offer. I've got a few speedo's I could use though. all of which will handle the 19t motor I plan on using.

The only thing I'll need, is some tyres. Might not be able to buy some, but out of the selection I have, I'll find something that works ok ish.

Can you recomend how I'd gear a Reedy Quad Mag 19t?

Cheers.

From what I remember, you need to drop a few teeth for the quad mag motors, so run it at 22/81 to start or equivalent overall ratio.

The B4 gearbox ratio is 2.4:1 if I remember rightly..

Thanks
Mark

i had the same problem with an LRP one.
it thermalled out and then had the same problems your having with glitching effects and ive also known of one other that did the same .
it seems on some of them after they thermall out as mine did, the system gets all fu*$ed up and goes all wrong .
basically you will find yourself sending it back for a new one im afraid .

oh. Not really what I wanted to hear! This was the first time it had ever been used. It still has the original gold bullet connectors on it too.
Is it worth me trying a different motor first?

The thing is, I didn't buy it from a shop, I swapped it with someone for some other RC stuff. It was factory sealed though, and I've got the warranty card. Its already a replacement for one that he was sent previously. I've got the original proof of purchase though.

Do you think there much chance of me getting a replacement?

if you have the Warranty Card then yes there is no reason why you wont get a replacement .

OK, cheers for that. I don't actually need the speedo until summer anyway, so its not a problem for me to send it back.

I've e-mailed Mirage. I'll see what they recommend, and read through the paperwork I have at home.

Cheers.

Chris.

unfortunately, I can't make it to this now. I let the organisers know on Wed.

I hope to be at the next round though.

Cheers,

Chris.

Its Coseley School, which is just off the Wolverhampton Road (I think its called Birmingham New Road). If coming from the South on the M5, leave at Junction 2, then go almost back on yourself at the roundabout, following the signs to wolverhampton. Continue on this road, until the next roundabout, then carry straight on (still following the signs for Wolves).

Follow this road, until you see a set of traffic lights, with a Mcdonalds, Subway and BP garage. In between the Mcd's and BP garage, their is a turning right, go down here, then its 1st turn on your left. Go right to the back of the school, near the playing fields, where you can unload.

See clubs section under :http://www.brca-midwest.co.uk for a multimap link.

Track was alright and the meeting seamed to flow. Was disapointed with the way the car went today, but at least i think i have found the problems so hopefully it will be ok next time. It's time for a complete rebuild on the car.

Whatever was wrong with it was irrepairable anyway, as Mirage have sent me a new speedo. Great service.

I ran it last night too, and it was great! really enjoyed driving it. I was using a 10.5 motor.
