Cogging? LRP Sphere 007 + 6,5t

Hello guys!
I recently bought a Lrp sphere 007 with an Lrp 6,5t motor to use in my Lazer ZX-5. I have noticed that it hesitates a little when giving full throttle from a stand still and a guy at the club said it was cogging.

How can that be? it is geared 17 / 78 wich should be pretty low and I use standard settings and a team orion carbon lipo battery.

Is my gearing too high or is something wrong with my system or settings?

Really would epreciate any help.

Are you using ko radio with spektrum? I had this problem until i put the big spektrum cap on.

noop, not using spectrum. just an ordniary fm 40 mhz hitec lynx 3d. There are however no glitches or anything, just that cogging when taking off.

When I forgot to plug in my sensor lead it wouldn't run at all.

Does this kill anything or is it just a no runner until plugged in?

There may just be one faulty wire in there which would cause the cogging but still allow the motor to work.

The latter is what happened to me. It just sort of grumbled angrily at me until i plugged it in. No damage to the gear though

Why will that make it run better? Feels kind of nice to have the lipo mode on so I don´t discharge the pack too much.

I will order a new sesor lead or atleast inspect the current one.

Everyone agrees that the car isn´t overgeared?

There is a good chance that is why you have your problem it only takes 30 seconds to try its worth it if it saves yo buying a new sensor lead.

Make sure the sensor lead is fully plugged in, mine was cogging tonight then i pushed the sorsor wire right in and it was perfect. Does the specktrum power cap get rid of the anoying pause before you get throttle?

aye, this indeed is the solution the problem. It cured my sphere "stutter" straightaway, using the original comp version and team orion lipos.

if you got it on lipo mode, the esc might be cutting out momentarirly, also, check all your connections are in good order.

simple when u give it full throttle your cells are dropping below the cut off point for lipo and the speedo cuts, then comes back when the load is off, trust me and try it. i found out by the same method!!

think on this, how did i know you had it on lipo mode when you have not said???

cogging in a brushless system is caused mainly in 2 ways.

1 is as posted a sudden drop in power in when you give the gas, this from what i can gather happens more with lipos than nimh`s.

the other cause is when a sensor wire is old they seem to be less tolerante to heat than when new so when the motor is warm not hot then you give beans from the line it sees loads of power that it thinks might cause it damage so it hesitates or cogs

a new lead will sort the problem i would also check the winds in side to make sure they havnt got to hot and the laquer started to burn off.

i hope that helps i too have had a coging motor which was solved with a new sensor wire i think they start to blacken inside causing resistance which causes the problem.

its more to do with the voltage dropping on any pack not just lipo, a good lipo pack will be ok, my problem was not with my trakpower lipo but with some NIMH cells
