Default What turn motor for my 'vintage' ESC ?

I have a retro cool SilverStar Speedmaster ESC (only 20 year old, lol).

I also have an old Reedy modified brushed motor of unknown spec, tho' i'm told it may be a 19T.

Does anyone know if this ESC will run a 15T brushed motor ?

I think it will be ok? I'm pretty sure I ran a motor like that, although as you say it was about 20 years...

To be fair, the modern electrics are far superior and much cheaper in real terms, so unless you are digging the vintage thing or running zero funds you might want to think about a brushless setup?

Having said that, you could still easily be club competitive with the ol' Silverstar.

the silver star was a lower spec than the gold star version, so if the reedy is down towards 14-15t then it may not cope. but if it is 19-20t then it should be ok.

i remember mine blew pretty quick running 27t at the old club. a friend of mine who made his own speedo's put a new higher spec fet in it and it was fine from then on.

I've already been using my (19T ?) Reedy motor for a couple of full club race meetings & it was this motor the SilverStar ESC was hooked up to in my old Couger many years ago & so far it's been fine.

I may go for a 14-15T motor as i'd like a slight increase in speed so i'll see how the old ESC copes, it if goes it goes & i'll have to say farewell to the good 'ol electrics, lol.

I'm thinking i just want to see if i can get any kind of results racing using the out of date electrics just for the satisfaction of it

i made a silver star smoke using a 17 double in a 2wd so i dont think it would handle the 15t that well, they used to get hot enough on stock motors, would say your 19 turn is about the limit unless you want to kill it. saying that it isnt hard to change the fets on them, did mine twice if i remember correctly.
