Default 2 channel or 3 channel?

Hi,

Not looked at RC cars since the early 90s.

Then all the radios were 2 channel, now many have 3.

So what's the advantages of 3?

Think the 3rd channel is for boat users......for trimming it up in the water or something.
can't imagine a use for it on a car, unless we all start fitting gun turrets hehe
