Default Astro Turf

Does anyone know of any astro turf going free or cheap anywhere at the moment? We are based in the north west but can travel.

There USED to be a link on the BRCA website to a firm who offered it free to anyone who would collect. That was before the site was revamped into its latest format. Maybe someone who admins the site will have the details in an archive somewhere?

This is it... Dated 2008 though. I'll give em a try.

In 2008 we as a company supplied some old artificial grass ( astro turf ) to K.O.R.T in Cornwall, Mark said other clubs may be interested in some artificial grass to race on. We are about to take up approx 800m2 from a site near St Helens Lancashire. This grass is in very good condition and barely used.
If your club could use some quality second hand astro turf please contact me at [email protected]
Many Thanks

We want to get some on the straight at least. It deteriorated last year and became quite bumpy.

Good plan

If you need any advice just ask, we've laid plenty (of astro) over the last couple of years!

The school could be in a position to give it away but it would be Lancs CC not Burnley BC who would be the next port of call as they "own" the school.

the link was to this company, this is where I sourced my astro from

http://www.mcardle-astroturf.co.uk/index.php

they win contracts to replace astro all over the country and the old stuff was free to collector, not sure if that is still the case

word of warning though, it is very heavy

Interseting.

That pitch was laid in the late 80's, while I was at that school.

For anyone who remembers it it's right next door to the piece of land that West Craven MCC ran on for their summer meetings, back-in-the-day.

It would be quite poetic if that astro got re-used for a R/C venue.

When we ran there it was Burnley council that ran the show. Mark/Steve - I'll have a wander down there on Friday afternnon see whats going on. I'll see if I can find you a contact name, expect a PM.

Stu.

(BTW - that's a lot of work for you before the regional?)

Thanks Stu. But Jamie has already been over there. All of the astroturf was sold to a guy in Clone. The are two rough looking rolls left (probably left because they are rubbish) The guys on site wanted £100 just to stick them on a trailer for us. That takes the piss a bit as they are going to skip it anyway!
