Default xx4 rear shock tower screws idea!!!

This is purely a random idea.

But tonight went to take the shock tower off my xx4 to allow me to get to rear pivot block and i stipped the head off a screw. Can only think it was just an old used screw as it was a brand new allen driver and i mean brand new only a few days old. But to get it out i had to go though the whole process of cutting a flat head head screw into it which was a pain in the a*se you always catch the chassis a bit. So i had an idea i snapped a screw off in my cr chassis and to get it out i wound a screw in from the other side. So i was thinking if i was to drill the holes down so they went straight though the tower and came out the top and extended the thread up. If or when i strip another screw i can just wind another in from the top to push the other out.

Feedback???? Good idea??? Bad Idea??? could this damage the thread in the tower as i know losi graphite isnt the best for holding threads.

Did winding a screw in from the other side actually work, surely they just tightened up against each other? Or worse still If you cut a new thread from the top (in the plastic) if this doesn't match the old thread (quite likely) you'll make a mess of the old good thread.

Sounds like a load of hard work for minimal gain and high potential for messing up.

What I would recomend is the torx screws X Factory sell, I know this sounds crowbarred plug but they are MILES better than the stock hex screws.

Torx screws are at the bottom of the page.

Unless its got some kind of twisted spike on the end it would just butt up against the other screw and strip threads. It would probably also make the screw harder to get out when you do actually dremel the slot in. I always try to pre tap my threads out in things like shock towers with a cap head so you dont get the issue of putting loads of strain on the std screw hex.

Thats that idea out the window :P Just purely an idea. The screws are abitch to get out no matter how much i tap them out.
